Surely this has to be one of LSU’s best hires in a long time…. win or lose the MCWS

Hiring Jay is easily the best accomplishment by Fat Scott.

I wanted Vitello or McDonnell, but so glad we got Jay instead. Didn't really consider the Arizona coach, but that was a brilliant hire. I actually heard it was Paul Mainieri who suggested him to Scott Woodward, but perhaps someone else can clarify. I think it was Paul's brother who told me that.
The cool thing was how a former MLB player that posts on here was trying to tell us it was going to be Jay Johnson. He was casually sure of it, but I don't think many believed him even though he was a very credible poster. It just seemed out of nowhere. I wish I could remember his username, because I'd love to revisit that post. It was like Lsc and a bunch or numbers.
Not only is Jay a great coach, but he's enjoyable to listen to. I can't stand Vitello's voice. Don't get me wrong, I'll take any coach if he wins. I'll take a jerk coach if it still means winning, but all things equal then give me the guy who I actually like. Jay is as great as anyone and I like seeing him at LSU.
I would not trade him for any other coach at any level. It's really nice to see so many of his doubters and even haters be quieted. I remember even in 23 there were a few fans trashing him every single week. I hope and wish those that continue to discredit or dismiss his previous accomplishments over certain players can finally go away with that nonsense. Never seen a baseball coach basically get no credit for winning a Championship, because he had great players. Who does that? I guess some ridiculous fans.

It’s crazy to think people were calling for his head after the SEC tourney. And multiple times over the regular season.

Winning the Championship was enough for me, but what truly made me realize he was special was listening to the players speak about him after it.
Cade Beloso's comments on Jay Johnson immediately after winning the Championship really stuck out to me. It was so sincere and on his own. They really buy in.

Got to get the right guys to buy in. Jay does that. and he always has them playing their best in the postseason. Not easy to do

He has been more than advertised and he has been every bit the best Coach in the SEC since his arrival. I have been tired of seeing Tennessee saying they have the best Coach and they have been the best program the last 4 years. They might be the best regular season team in those 4 years but not the best overall program from a post season and overall season success.
College Baseball is about post season success not regular season success.

Scott wanted Sully until he couldn't control his penis.
