Miles has apparently only been the coach of LSU for 2 years. 8-8 is nothing to get excited about and can't continue, but Miles has coached at LSU for 5 years, not 2. I know it's the most recent 2, but doesn't 2010 show us where the trend is?

Just a refresher of SEC regular season records over the last 2 years.

Bama: 16-0
UF: 15-1
UGA: 10-6
Ole Miss: 9-7
LSU: 8-8
UT: 7-9
USCe: 7-9
Arky: 5-11
Auburn: 5-11
MSU: 5-11
Vandy: 4-12

UT in a major rebuilding year went 4-4 in the SEC this season. I did not believe UT would win 6 games total, plus they had a horrible QB who had sucked the past two seasons. To me, that is more impressive than LSU at 5-3. Having watched MSU beat down OM last week, 5-3 is not very satisfying especially with UGA having a down year and AR, AU and MSU being down again, then there is Vandy.

Yes Florida will probably improve next year with a new QB (they have atleast 3 more Tebows waiting in the wings) and almost everyone on defense gone - not to mention their DC.

Can't get much better than that...

They might have to start making some kind of joke about us like Spurrier used to say about the Vols:

"You can't spell 'Citrus' without U-T"

I hope that's enough to knock them down.

Good God man. And you're satisfied with 5th place.

If you ranked the talent during those years where would LSU be?

As to your two years argument. Gerry Dinardo also coached at LSU for 5 years, not just his last two. Should he still be coaching here?????

You're getting tired of hearing about 8-8???

How will you feel next year when it's 10-14 after LSU eeks out wins against MSU and Vandy and gets destroyed by Alabama. Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Auburn.

LSU loses a lot this year -- you think they're not going to lose those games? Really?

I understand you don't want to deal with reality and admit that Miles is way below average in this league. But he is.

You think we go 2-6 in league play next year and he is the one who isn't dealing with reality?

THE SKY IS FALLING!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!

Get a grip. The team improved by two wins in the SEC this season, is pretty loaded with talent for next season (you may remember some highly regarded recruiting classes), and Florida and Bama will have some pretty significant talent losses as well. Yet you're trying to seel me that we're gonna go 2-6?

I'll listen to people who want to complain about direction of the program or that we are no longer elite... but people picking a sudden cratering just have no credibility. That's pure panic.

Let me break it down for you.

Alabama and Florida have more talent than LSU. Both of those teams have OL and DL depth that LSU does not. They'll be favored in both games.

Tennessee will be tremendously improved, and, in addition, they are well coached which LSU is not. I think that's LSU's third loss.

Regarding Ole Miss and Arkansas, what in the world would make you think that LSU would beat either of these teams. Ole Miss has dominated LSU for the past two years, and again LSU has very little OL and DL depth. 4th loss.

Arkansas will continue to improve under Petrino, and as posted above there is no reason to believe that he will not also know everything that we do since Miles remains as our coach. Game's in Arky. At best we are in a 4th quarter tussle. 5th loss.

Auburn will also be improved after an enthusiastic off-season, with all of their players knowing that they are well coaches, have an imaginative offensive scheme, and knowing when they play LSU that they will at least have the advantage of coaching. 6th loss.

I'm only giving LSU the nod over MSu (who will also be improved under Mullin) because there is no doubt that a flicker or two of the demonry that has allowed Miles to win thus far will surface and Chad Jones will probably fly through the air to deflect away several TD passes that would have been sure scores against any other coach.

NO, the sky isn't falling.

It's a simple, rational formula: weak OL and DL + ill prepared coaching based largely on luck and emotion = disaster.

Reality Tiger, you have done it now. You have ruined the entire offseason for the "Miles lovers". By beating R-kansas by 3 in OT for them means Miles is the best there was, best there is, and best there ever will be. And this year was just a fluke and they will be playing for a championship next year because they WILL be so much better. I hope your happy and proud of yourself. Good job.

...with their OC possibly taking a HC position at another school.

This list is supposed to inspire me? LSU is behind Ole Miss. Yeah, 8-8 really does suck.

so or offensive line and defensive line are going to be weak? and we are going to lose a whole bunch of games? have you paid attention to what happened this year? we can only improve. i'm impressed we don't have a worse record this year with our weak o-line and d-line, but it only makes sense to think these areas will improve in the off season. we should be a better team next year.

O.K. then how about 8-9? Because that's LSU's record over the last 17 SEC games.
