Triple option teams catch some much more talented teams off guard every year because it takes discipline to defend it. LSU has traditionally not been one of those teams. I'm not saying it can't happen, but LSU has traditionally been disciplined and defended the triple option well.
Also they usually catch a team off guard in the middle of the season when that team is in between conference games and only has a week to prepare.

Dude GSU got blown out by ULM last year. Get real.

How about something more recent, from November 2018? Will Georgia Southern show up with the same coach, offense and defense as the team that lost to ULM by 19 points
I sure hope not. We definitely overlooked them and paid the price. That was supposed to be a gimme game and it kept us from having an 11 win season and a better bowl game. It was inexcusable but it happens to every team in America not named Alabama. I hope we show up like the team that beat the shite out of App State late in 2018... Only then will it be a game worth watching. I'll be there to see it in person and look forward to tailgating with you crazy Cajun mf'ers.
LSU 38-GSU 24. 21-17 at half.

Cadeloo-4-6 year old film.
Just wanted to show you when HC Fritz brought the Shotgun Option in & what could do. Fritz was only at Southern for 2 years. After Fritz left GSU went through 2 very bad years, under 3 different Head Coaches with the 2017 the worst season in GSU history with a 2-10 record.
In 2018 our new Head Coach using Fritz's Shotgun option GSU went 10-3 and won a low level bowl game. HC Lunsford stated he was using a simplified offensive playbook. After Spring practice he stated the offense was much further along & advanced over last year.

GSUs FG and PAT kicker Tylor Bass - this is why GSU will win by 3 points!
Georgia Southern kicker Tyler Bass was named to the Associated Press’ all-bowl team, as announced Thursday afternoon. The outlet chooses the best performances from the 40 bowl games and puts out its team each year.
Bass, a rising senior from Irmo, South Carolina, made all three of his field-goal attempts, including a 40-yarder as time expired to beat Eastern Michigan 23-21.
He also made field goals from 50 (as time expired in the first half) and 35 yards.
Bass was a first-team All-Sun Belt selection by the conference, Southern Pigskin, Pro Football Focus and Phil Steele.
The semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award tied the school record with 19 field goals on the season, including a school-record tying 10 of 40 yards or longer. He was 45-for-45 on PATs.

I know it doesn't matter what the fans think, but delpit said he's looking forward to game 1. He knows they can't take them lightly and specifically pointed out troy.
So while we think gsu doesn't stand a chance. The players know they need to show up, doesn't matter the opponent.

Talon... Take a chill pill buddy. Glad you're rooting for the Eagles but your killing any chance at decent conversation with some of your post and the sheer volume of post. It's like word vomit after a while.

Quick heads up from another GS fan (and current employee).
1. GSUTalon spells things incorrectly on purpose to annoy people, none of us know why he does it, but it seems to work.
2. He's notorious for overposting. You might as well get used to it - or ignore him.
3. We do not run Paul Johnsons offense.
4. We do not cut block any more than other teams do anymore.
5. The P5 games we played 4-6 years ago really have no bearing on this game except we will be much closer this year to what we were back then than we were in 2016 and 2017 under a different head coach.
6. There will be a decent contingent of GS fans at the game. You'll find that very few of them have any allegiances to UGA and as a matter of fact the end of one of our chants is quite literally "F UGA"
7. Looking forward to seeing Burrow play - he's got great potential.

GT33 - "Also they usually catch a team off guard in the middle of the season when that team is in between conference games and only has a week to prepare."
TALON-I don't like playing a team like LSU as our first game. I'd much rather have played LSU in our 2nd game of the season. I don't like LSU having the summer practice to prepare for GSU! Even though GSU went 2-10 in 2017 and 10-3 in 2018 was a great comeback.

I would like to speak on ToastyGS point #5.
Toasty is right about the P5 games we played under HC Fritz the 2 years he was at GSU. New head coach Lunsford and
staff took us from a 2-10 season to a 10-3 & a bowl win in 2018 his first year running the basic Shotgun option.
As I stated before, after this years spring practice, our HC stated the Shotgun option offense was much more advance and better executed than in 2018.
The reason I put up the games against GT, NC & Georgia, under HC Fritz, was to show what the Shotgun option could do under the right HC, Staff & players.
Has GSUs Offense improved enough over the last year to give the LSU a run for the money? I wont know until after the game. I do think our Defense will be fine!

SE- If you look at most of my posts they are factual about the GSU offense and defense also the LSU defense. Yes I have thrown in a few jabs , but very few.
LSU fans, if they have a beef or want to add something you can always post on www.gsufans.com
I doubt you will because we know more about football and this game than you do!
