Funny you mention the past and in the same post totally disregard the past.

Lane Kiffin went 4-7 in his last 11 at USC before being fired at the airport.

Coach Eaux took over that unranked USC team that had 3 wins on the season. USC had beaten Hawaii, Boston College and Utah State. they had lost to Washington St and Arizona St.

Eaux took over the same exact team, players, coaches, admin, everything and led them to a 5-2 record, national ranking and bowl game.

But yeah, let's not remember something that actually happened and wonder about hypotheticals.

He took over someone else's team. Everything was already there and he tweaked it.

The jury is still out whether he can build a team of his own that is a winner [taking the Ole Miss history out of the discussion].

If he can't raise the bar on linebackers and DBs after the departure of White and Greedy [next year] presuming all of the defensive line stays, that will be the litmus test.

Lane doesn't have Kendall Briles anymore. Meanwhile Houston is 4-1 and averaging almost 600 yards total offense per game. Major Applewhite didn't suddenly become an offensive genius.

True but Major Applewhite was never a genius.

I am Interested to see how FAU finishes.

He won more games in a season than his predecessor won in 3 years.

But Briles’ offense is legit.

The thread is about Kiffin and I think the fact that he was fired at the airport is proof that he can't build or maintain a team.

Is Kiffin the new Hotlips?

Can't talk about Herman now so someone else to say "well at least we don't have this guy."

Well he just won more games in a year than the team won the 3 years before he got there.

He’s the most successful coach in FAU history.

But USC seems to matter because it favors your arguement.

Wasn’t O the least successful Coach in Ole Miss History?

The difference is Kiffin is coming from under Saban this time, which is a way different Kiffin than the one from Tennessee or a heavily sanctioned USC. Not that I think Kiffin is the answer, but recently coaching under Saban and then having immediate success at an abysmal program like FAU is what makes him intriguing.

Ree, he was there for three full seasons and part of a fourth. Do you think he had sufficient time to build a championship roster? If so, how much would you shrink that time frame for a coach who takes over a program that isn’t on probation?

Can’t be any worse than the current shite show we have.

But it is much worse. FAU is 3-4 and in 5th place in the East division of Conference USA.

I assume you know the story on LSU this season.
