Is in pretty good hands

I think we had a solid foundation with Ward, Reed, and Mike Williams

I expect Collins and Stewart to be back next year and be big contributors also

Corey chest coming off the redshirt plus whatever guys you get from portal and the 2 guys we recruited givens and miller

Agree. Portal will be the key but hopefully the success will help raise the level of talent he can get. Everyone knows it’s tough to play at Vandy but this is as good as we’ve looked there in years. We usually struggle there regardless of coach. Granted they aren’t as good as in the past but there have been times in the past we were favored and lost.

a true statement that proves the outlook for next year is actually not good.

Shut up

If you can’t see that this team is headed in the right direction then you are a Matt mcmahon hating moron

Seems like we would have enough HS in state talent like Football that we should be able to compete at a high level quickly

this team has improved but next years team will look a lot different after losing Wright, Baker, Dean, Hannibal, Cook, Fountain. Have not seen enough from recruiting, will have to rely on portal. (Not good). The outlook is a rebuild after year two in which we are scrapping for an NIT bid.

I think Mcmahon has done an excellent job this year. I just wish this team was younger. Losing 4 Sr starters is never a good thing.

Next year is definitely the prove it year and will likely decide his future at LSU. Assuming everyone comes back that is eligible that his only returning 6 players with 3 of them not really playing this year. Will have to get at least 4 players from the portal. Will be an interesting and massive offseason for sure.

If everyone returns who can than we only have 1 or 2 spots open. We lose 4 to eligibility and already signed 2 recruits. We may lose a scholarship for next year.

No. It will not decide his career. A lot will go into how the season plays out. I expect to be competing for an NCAA berth but we will be starting with a new PG whether the freshman or a transfer. Will take a little time for that to work out.

Last year was year zero and this year is year 1 for McMahon. He inherited steaming pile of crap. Next year will be year 2 and it will not be a make or break year for him. The AD even said as much about year 1 beating year zero. Jury is out whether he can put a team on the court next year better than this one which is improved but average in terms of where they stand in the conference pecking order. Ok I am done

The inherent problem with NCAA basketball is that even if McMahon would’ve recruited five 5-stars, they would most likely all go pro the very next year and you’re back to square one

If you are any good, you’re one & done. It’s almost unsustainable maintaining a program that doesn’t have a brand name in basketball.

This is just not true. Louisiana doesn’t produce basketball prospects at nearly the same level as football.

We have only a few three stars and our best player is only a four star on ESPN and a three star by every other recruiting site. We’re not a basketball state

There is a coach in Lake Charles who just made the biggest turnaround in the country and has won his conference in year 1. He inherited a program that was dead and buried, not like the fake narrative of "but the looming dark cloud".

This is not an anti-Matt McMahon post. It's just stating facts that year 1 did indeed count.

We have our years but it’s sporadic. 2006 was because of a bumper crop year a few years before.
