Its not about being a players coach. It's about not degrading your players in public.

1. I haven't seen any instances of CPM "degrading his players in public".

2. You're making these players sound like a bunch of prima donna pussies who can't take a little criticism. And that does THEM a big disservice.

You should watch a little more closely then. Especially when he is pulling his pitchers out.

Why do we have such a small class coming in next year? Any chance we pick up a slugging 1B out of JUCO?

We have a good class coming in.

I think if you go look at where the guys are now (in the minors and getting drafted) I'm pretty sure we were more talented than both of those teams.

If thats the case, then that means Mainieri is one hell of a recruiter right?

He is as far as our ranking say the years he's been here. Which is why you have to think why have they played so bad over the last year? Were our recruiting classes really not that great? Teams with this talent just don't struggle for as long as they have. Something is going on inside. (Just a guess) Coach PM may have lost this team? Dunno.

If you read the whole thread, I stated that I didn't want him to leave bc of how good his recruiting is. I just said his on the field coaching is not great

Well alot of our recruiting classes got stripped by the MLB a couple years ago, but thats mostly pitching, Mainieri hasn't recruited the best hitters it would appear.

I am sure that goes over well with the guys who have busting their butt for the last month. It's little things like this and calling out players that makes a coach lose his ballclu

If any of the players who played LF have a problem with that text or CPM wanting Ware back maybe they should have played better. Because no one has been any good at that position this year. Sometimes the truth hurts, Either step up or step a side for a better player.

I'll be biting my nails come draft time for this next class. Baranik and Nola are sure fire pros, but how bad do they want to come here..? I know Nola has ties, but Carson has none and throws gas.

I don't know much about the rest of the class, so if there's a thread can someone link it?

how Watkins can play but Edward can't.

Edward played 10 games in LF last year and 12 at 3B..he is a slow utility player that just needs to find a home.

When I said gone, I meant he would be drafted not cut! Watkins in LF and Edward back at 1B is my answer!

Future of LSU baseball???

I'm kinda shortsighted ... future of LSU baseball is: 1. wins tonight and tomorrow night and 2. beating Auburn 2 games to 1 this weekend. After that...?

Do y'all remember the state of LSU baseball when Mainieri came?

2006 Year before PM came - 35-24

2007 First year - 29-26-1 - didn't make the SEC tournament, Got the #1 recruiting class after this season

2008 Second year - 49-19-1 - Not ranked to begin the season, got # 2 seed in the SEC tournament, Won the SEC tournament, Were 23-16 then Won 23 consecutive games, Nationally seeded #7 for the NCAA tournament, Beat Irvine to make it to Omaha, Lost to the #2 seed UNC twice to go home

2009 Third year - 56-17 - Pre-season #1, earned #1 seed for SEC tournament, Won SEC tournament, #3 seed in the NCAA tournament, Won the CWS

Get real in here. He is a great coach but the team is just struggling.

After the 2009 season LSU lost 4 of their top 5 hitters.

Between last year and this year they lost their top 3 hitters. The 5 pitchers who had the most innings pitched last year and 6 of the 7 pitchers who had the most starts from last years team are not with the team right now.

Lets get real. Inexperience kills.

You will always lose players like this if you have good teams. When you don't have declare for the draft, guys will leave if they get picked before the 10th round most of the time

I am going to say one thing and I promise not to comment on LSU baseball again this season.

1. This shitty product on the field is shocking considering the top recruiting classes LSU was suppose to have signed.

2. I am frustrated..because I expected more from Paul Maineri and his staff in developing these kids.

3. This team is not motivated.

4. Last year, the team tanked and Maineri has this team tanking bigtime too. I know Maineri hit the lottery and won a NC in 2009. What exactly is his SEC record the past 4 seasons (including this one ). Not too impressive if I can recall..don't know exact numbers.

5. I love Paul Maineri as a father figure and his soft-spoken words and his kindness. As a head coach at LSU, I think he is overrated. I am not asking for a Skip Bertman clone but these last two seasons are simply uncalled for. This is unfricking acceptable and the talent on this team is underproducing.

That is my rant...I am sticking to it. and I apologize for hurting other people's feelings but after the basketball debacle, I expected more from the baseball program. This ship hopefully will be corrected by next season. Maineri has not earned his pay this year. I am finished for this year...see you guys in football season.

no and I mean no one predicted a meltdown like this. PM was also very up beat before the season. Were all prognosticators wrong or did something happen to the team that we could not have projected before the season. Obviously we have a big problem. PM is paid well to diagnose the problem and fix it.

Remember we lost Ware buddy from Ohio (Best player in the state) & Koziol (projected 1 Base) who was kicked off. I know the squad is short those players.
