If you’ve been a fan of LSU basketball since 1977 then you have had an opportunity to watch some good basketball. You’ve also had a chance to see a lot of mediocre to bad basketball. That means you should be adept at recognizing some of the hallmarks of both.
You’ve also seen the tenures of 6 head coaches. The most successful (to varying degrees) were Brown, Brady and Wade. The least successful? Johnson, Jones, McMahon. What is the one trait the most successful shared? Passion. What do the least successful share? A lack of passion.
It was a passion that was felt by the fans. More importantly, a passion felt by the players who played with such.
I have no doubt Johnson, Jones, McMahon work(ed) hard and want(ed) to win. But so many times both during the games and out it looked like they wanted to be anywhere else. In each instance that lack of energy permeated with the program and fanbase. The lack of results often followed. You’re seeing that again now.
As I’m sure you would agree, with age comes wisdom. We’ve seen and experienced a lot. Good and bad. And unless you are just willfully ignoring what that wisdom/experience is telling you, inside you know McMahon is unlikely to be successful here. Some of us experienced souls recognized that in year 1. And a growing number are recognizing it today. Thus begging the question “why prolong making a change when we already know what the end result will be?”

1) its 2 games into the SEC schedule…
2) not having Reed at 6’10 and 240lbs is a huge loss for this group
3) will be a gauntlet but lots of bball to play…let’s Geaux!

The Rant is full of two groups. The sunshine pumpers and the ones that love to be miserable. Hope I am never in either.
This thread sucks.

I dont find the suffrage of our basketball program (or any other LSU program) humorous. I understand you're poking fun at the faith people had a month ago, but it comes at tge expense of a dismal team. Losing sucks. Not being competitive is frustrating and i just can't bring myself to laugh at the hope amd faith some had...because that's what being a fan is supposed to be.

Good comments. I am with you. So many on the Rant take more pride in trying to find fault in other people's opinions than they do in our team's success. Hence, we get threads like this one.

I think the difference between Wade, Brady, and brown compared to the bother three was their ability to see what need to be fixed and adjust accordingly, weather it be something that went against their natural coaching style or just a something as simple as spotting their team weakness. Btw these theee all had an identity to their playstyle, which is something I’ve yet to see from Coach Mac.

Mcpuffins, if you say you have been around since 1977 then surely your like the few amongst us who have been around long enough to recognize the writing in the wall before most of the younger fans here. When a coach has “it” you know it and can feel it and there is even an increasing buzz that starts to spread like wildfire in the P Mac. Not all these guys are haters, do we love Wade, brown and Brady? Yes. As should any other fans cause you felt their presence and they gave us something to be excited about. Do I pray to god that Coach Mac is the next coach K? Hell yea I do and I’d bet anyone else who criticized him does also. But the evidence so far has show it’s more than likely not. Think about out it my man, how many other schools are pumped because their coach had a 500 season the year before?

We have a delusional fan base like most schools.
We might be the worst basketball team in the SEC. Every one of those other SEC teams can say they are better than us.

You guys thought Kansas State was a solid win but they’re 7-8 and possibly the worst big 12 team.
UCF is decent, but they’re hard pressed to be a tourney team.
