Saban got credit in 07 cause he left us with 2 NFL QBs and every starter except for RJF was a Saban, Fisher recruit.

short answer: yes.
quote:

) Does Ed Orgeron get all the credit for righting the ship, promoting Ensminger, bringing in fresh talent, and hiring new coaches/analysts?
yes on this.

as well as...
quote:

Does Les Miles get partial credit for originally hiring Aranda/Ensminger (not to mention Orgeron) and handing over a solid program with a great foundation of athletic talent?

yes on this.

The key word being "foundation". Without Les Miles, Orgeron doesn't bring in as good as recruiting classes, however good that may be. Without Miles, they would be worse.

However, tDecline was real. A championship was indeed, by definition, a turnaround. Orgeron should get credit in that unlikely event.

For Aranda yes but not the rest. The program was in decline. The roster was mismanaged. In your very hypothetical scenario, whatever foundation he left will have been gone by 2020.

Rickey Jean-Francois wasn't the only starter that wasn't a Saban recruit. There were a few others like Ciron Black, Lyle Hitt, and perhaps Brandon Lafell.

And even with most of the starters that year being seniors and juniors, only the seniors would have had any "coaching up" done under Saban. So all the players from that team spent more time under Miles than Saban.

Saban should be given a pat on the back for getting some of those guys to commit to LSU, but that's it. Same with Miles and the current team now that he's gone.
