FSU's lack of a week zero game is being over-looked.

If you go back and watch FSU's week zero game from last year, you'll see that they looked like LSU did in week one.

The NFL plays preseason games for a reason. For that matter, NFL teams practice against other NFL teams because it helps them to prepare for actual gameplay.

It took 3 quarters for LSU to start playing as a team. FSU started that game as the better team and although they won, LSU was the better team when that game ended.

I wish we played tonight so we wouldn’t have any more threads like this.

LSU had game film on FSU whereas FSU had no film on a team with new players and new coaching staff.

The entire content of your text body can be ripped apart. The point you’re trying to make is ridiculous.

They always say that teams make the biggest improvement between game 1 and game 2.

Live action against an opponent pays huge dividends.

I think that makes a bigger difference than having film on a team. I’m sure FL State didn’t use much of their playbook in the game they played before us so film was not a big deal. I think getting the opening game jitters and mistakes flushed out is a big advantage

While I agree with you, there is no substitute for a live/it matters football game. Especially when you had as many transfers as LSU had.

I think it was a bigger deal last year. Both teams return a lot of players and should be where they need to be without a warm up game.

I still believe to this day that was the difference in the game last year.

I agree with your point, but just made a counterpoint. The counterpoint to my counterpoint is that FSU showed nothing in their week 0 game. So no advantage really.

The only difference I can see is that ST were atrocious in game 1 and improved to bad in the SECCG

Going through the game day process and getting things corrected that you didn't know existed is more advantageous than any film we received.

Norvell was in year 3 entering 2022, so LSU didn't gain anything film-wise from the Duquesne game that they didn't know already.

It's true though. We win by 14 last year if they don't have a week 0 game

FSU having a warmup against Duquesne was def the deciding factor last year. LSU was clearly working out the kinks, and lost on an xp try. FSU was on their heels in the 4th after LSU got used to the speed of the game.

The counterpoint to your counterpoint to your counterpoint is we didn’t really need another week 0 thread.

yes they do -- money.

Good coaches have their teams ready to go, whether it's against a cupcake or a great opponent.

All this week 0 discussion is exhausting.
