quote:Well, Les did do more than flirting. It went beyond creepy to, at a minimum, borderline illegal. And it isn't the condo I'm referring to, or the innuendo.
Everyone fired because Les Miles flirted with hot interns. We need an election or something to stop focusing on this stupid stuff.
It's the fact that after 1/9/12 he decided to double down and instead of letting other coaches help him change, he became even more controlling. Yes, we all know that and the results on the field showed.
But included in that being more micromanaging was he insisted on recruiting the female atheletic assistants, even did the interviewing, and insisted on certain looks (that just so happened to fit his personal tastes- not just "good looking"). To make it worse women who were employed who did not fit the physical characteristics he, as a head football coach was looking for, he sought to have fired or at least the hours reduced. That is discrimination.
And THEN he creeped on some of them that he personally influenced their hiring thereby directly establishing a power position. That is fits sever definitions of impropriety of indiscretions, including sexual harassments.
And if he kissed one (still denies and was never proven), now you are into assualt.
So starting with insisting on being the one hiring some of these women (instead of coaching btw), through having a narrowly defined criteria of physical traits to then flirting/harassing them, possibly assaulting them, Les managed to check all the boxes in what was his personal journey under the guise of improving recruiting due to the loss on 1/9/12.
Many many knew that he insisted on being way too close to hiring these women (including Seagar). That's where it should have stopped.
quote:And that we're in agreement on. Scorched earth shouldn't apply. People should be held accountable, including those that looked the other way IF they could have done something. It's still people that comprise a company, a school, a group. And it the people that should face consequences.
Everyone fired because Les Miles flirted
And while no longer being at LSU should not be a reason for there to be no consequences, being at LSU now shouldn't be the reason to punish those not involved.

This sort of reaction is what makes people not take these situations seriously. Instead of addressing those actually at fault, they want react with emotion and fire everyone. Presumably to be replaced with someone of their choosing that fits their woke model.
If Verge and Segar was relieved of their duties, on a permanent basis, yesterday... I don't think USA Today would have much to stand on. Most of the people who allowed this to happen, with the exception of those two, are gone.
Now if they want to go after Miles, F King, etc, go ahead.
I think O is kinda on the sidelines here. A lot of the bad stuff happened before he got here, or was outside of his team / his control.

Wolken is a TOOL that always takes shots at LSU, especially Basketball.

As we know from basketball coach Will Wade still collecting a paycheck two years after “strong-arse offer” made it into the college sports lexicon, accountability isn't really LSU’s thing. Even after the contents of an FBI wiretap went public where Wade blatantly discussed recruiting violations, LSU threw up middle fingers to the NCAA and bathed in the sleaze all the way to the Sweet 16. When you combine that situation with what we now know they tolerated from Miles, it’s pretty clear what LSU’s priorities are.

So in that context... why isn't one of the pursuit lines of all this coverage WHO kept Alleva from firing Les in 2013? And again in 2015?
In 2013 when Alleva sent an email detailing his recommendation for firing Les for cause. Causes completely related to this shite, and completely unrelated to on-the-field coaching. FKA that's who. That's who refused to take that recommendation, with his backing, to the BoS. And shame on the BoS for relying on FKA as their sole source of guidance.
But good ole woke FKA was the bottleneck to stopping a bad culture at or near the top of our athletics that then, predictably so, permeated down to players. In no way was FKA soley responsible. Each person is responsible for their own actions- Guice and Les included.
But the one person most best positioned to stop, blunt, mitigate, or reverse this from a couple bad apples to a "culture" or "systematic" problem not only didn't do that because of his own political machinations and wanting to make sure people like Alleva couldn't interfere with his allies (like Miles). That's FKA.

FKA is saying there wasn't enough evidence to fire Miles in 2013. He was incoming president at the time. 2015 is football related.
FKA is slimy enough to get away with this, plus, he's one of the liberals. The liberal USA Today isn't going to go after another liberal.

Crazy idea here...this is a great opportunity for someone (i.e. LSU) to grow a spine and just say "no" to the virtue signal warriors.
They can't eat you. They can't kill you. All they can do is call you ugly names and threaten meaningless boycotts.
Just say no to social justice warriors. It's quite liberating, really.

Have you been in a coma over the past year? You do know this is LSU you’re talking about, right?

Why should LSU have any legal obligation at all?
Code of Student Conduct. LSU players are held to a higher standard as representatives of the school. Admin did nothing but turn a blind eye.

Forget USA today bunch of whinny liberals! Miles is a goof ball, and he's been fired!! Unless he forced a women in a car or he forced kissed/groped her after she refused then there is no assault. Just a stupid man and a woman trying to get paid.

Lester, when is LSU basketball getting the hammer?

Woke Dan is nothing if not consistent.

The point is that while Les’s behavior was creepy and way beyond the level of acceptable behavior for a man in his position, it was not criminal. These woke journalists want another Baylor and will stretch the facts to get it.
Yawn. Until they go this hard after Cuomo, I’ll let football coaches have a pass. The head politico of a state did worse with staff and murdered senior citizens to artificially inflate covid stats. As long as they try to roast Miles on a spot while giving Cuomo a pass, I’ll yawn.

Call Oregon State and quit bitching about it. None I them are still here.

For those of you saying this is not a big deal, you are wrong. These are not rumors. He was out of control. There are a lot more young women who didn't come forward than did. There's no doubt in my mind that what he did off the field impacted what his teams did on the field.
