re: From CJJ presser, "If Jones or Herring are top 50 picks I will tell them to go pro"

Jay seemed pissed to me (but he didn't say he was) about the 3 players looking him in his eyes and saying they would return only to get phone calls from them the following week
I got the impression that he was just talking about one kid that told him they would be back and then jumped into the portal. Not 3. I could be wrong, but that's how I took what he said. Putting pieces together that would probably either be Cam or Kling.

Care to elaborate? The SEC and ACC each got 4 teams in Omaha. We finished what 10th or 11th in the SEC? Its not a bold stance to take that we wouldn’t have finished first in the ACC.
Quit getting so upset about things that aren’t even negative towards LSU. People saying that LSU wouldn’t have finished first in the ACC isn’t disrespectful towards LSU.

Do you realize how good some of the best pitchers in LSU history were? I love Herring and would love for him to return next year. But he’s got a long way to go if he’s going to crack the top 10 of all time LSU pitchers.
Dude you have got to be the most miserable arse hat on this board and that’s saying something.

This is the year that jones and herring have leverage. Even drafted high, they lose that next year.
They both just finished their sophomore year. They will have leverage again after their junior seasons.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. For some odd reason, I thought they were both juniors. Must be thinking ahead to next year already....

yes but you know winning a CWS game and a 1.79 ERA season as a starter is a pretty good resume.

I don’t disagree with your statement, but Jay didn’t exclude the ACC in his comment.
He’s made a lot of “this guy is the best I’ve ever coached” or “he’s the best in the country”.
He was literally 2 outs away in the top of the 9th from being right about that statement. You're making it seem like he was far off lmfao. It took them extra innings to beat us in the winner-take-all game.

You're fricking miserable.

Yeah, it was pretty miserable to watch a team loaded with the following narrowly make the NCAAT and fail to get out of a regional:
“one of the best players in college baseball history” Jay Johnson on Tommy White
“one of the best pitchers in the country” Jay Johnson on Gage Jump
“could go down as one of the best pitchers in LSU history.” Jay Johnson on Griffin Herring

He's a R/R first baseman. He doesn't have any stock. He can't improve his draft stock. He can improve the likelihood of success once he gets to the minor leagues though.
The truth. Unfortunately for him, the success of college 1B making it to the majors is low. I think he should stay, I don’t think he can really lower his stock.

Because I’m watching teams like Florida and Tennessee make college World Series at a consistent rate while LSU sits at home and watches like we did in 2018, 2019, 2020 (canceled), 2021, 2022, and 2024.

This was used as one of your examples of sitting home? You’re either a troll or an absolute dumbass…maybe both

I said it was canceled.
We weren’t going to come close to making it. But I certainly pointed out there was no CWS for anyone that year.

Jay also said, while LSU was sitting at 3-12 in the SEC, that LSU would be in first place in any other conference in the country.
Outside of the ACC, I still don't think he was wrong about that.

Well they were 3 outs away from beating the best non-SEC team in the country on their home field so I don't think that was that far fetched.

I’m sure Johnson knows he has work to do to get to the level of that juggernaut UNC team that was just oozing talent everywhere.

quote:Its just a poor premise on that logic
CJJ addressed this in his press conference as well. He said everybody thought he had fallen down and hit his head when he said it. Today he said he was wrong but only wrong by two outs. He was alluding to how we came up short against the #1 Acc team by only two outs. It's almost like he was directing that right at your remark.
There is a decent chance Florida wins the entire thing and they couldn’t even finish top 6 in the sec
Just because your team has the talent and gets hot at the right time doesn’t mean they “would have won the conference”
2024 Florida might both be a team that wins the national title and also barely finished above .500
