re: Freeman "vs." BK Isn't the Correct Conversation

Trace Armstrong played LSU to leverage a higher contract for Lincoln Riley at southern cal. After Riley shunned LSU your AD panicked. No worries, Armstrong had the perfect remedy. Kelly ended up at LSU as a $100 million dollar consolation prize. It was a virtuoso display of “sports agent” leveraging.
NIL was in existence for 4 months when Kelly left. After investing over 1/2 a billion in the program during Kelly’s tenure, it’s a leap to believe that ND would not participate in the transfer portal/NIL going forward.
Kelly jumped ship on an undefeated Sugar Bowl bound team. When he heard $100 million he blathered the “ND compete” excuse he felt he had to…
The minute Kelly achieves any success at LSU, Armstrong’s ESPN clients will start beating the NFL/other drums, whether true or not, for more $. You’ve got yourself a mercenary devoid of loyalty. That’s among a host of other character flaws.
“Baton Rouge Stunned After Lincoln Riley Says He Won't Be LSU Coach”
For now, it’s time to call Baton Rouge, where LSU fans, boosters and even some school officials were left completely stunned by Riley’s admission after the game that he is, in fact, not a candidate for their job.

It was a one loss team that played in the Fiesta Bowl...?

Then why not give Notre Dame the opportunity to make a competing offer?

He left an undefeated and Sugar Bowl bound University of Cincinnati team to sign with ND. My apologies for not being clear. He then left ND for $100 million.

Pretty sure he would. Bears would offer him what ND couldn’t if they really wanted him

I’ve been a fan of LSU since local NY HS hoop legend Bernard Woodside enrolled there. He went to the Final 4 as a SO in 85-86. My best friend’s son graduated from LSU’s excellent Med School. He recently finished his residency at Hopkins and is back in CA. The only time I’m not pulling for LSU is when they play ND.

Getting ready for 4 hour jackoff session to Freeman Monday night whether they win or lose by 40. Hype machine in overdrive .

You lost to a G5 this year...
I'm not seeing this massive difference? Were you not the favorite in every game you've played this year?
As I pointed out, Notre Dame under Kelly had a number of inexplicable losses to teams loaded with 2-stars and 3-stars, and often barely beat such teams (see Toledo in 2021). Always looked terrible in big games, often getting blown out like a mediocre team would.
Notre Dame handed 9 of its 11 opponents in the regular season their worst loss of the year. That's pretty good.

This is BK problem boiled all the way down the the bare bones. BK is looking for a program that can get him a championship win not a program he can coach into a championship team.
This is why he left ND. He saw the light that ND was not going to deliver him a team for him to coach into a championship, and he was no longer a draw as a coach to recruit the top recruits to ND. He saw the writing on the wall. His welcome at ND was running out and he had to make the move first.

So does Freeman, he has multiple losses to G5 teams.
What's the difference?

What are you defining as a "big game"?

You're just as deluded as some of the rantards we have here in our own fan base.
Parroting the same stupid hot takes as those dipshits aren't points in your favor.
Kelly didn't win any first round wild card playoff games at Notre Dame because they didn't exist when he was there dumbass. It wasn't physically possible. Of course I would have to explain that to you. I suspect you require a lot of explaining to.
Kelly did have them in the 4 team playoff twice though, something that Freeman would not have accomplished this year, being the 7th seed and all. So Freemans best year so far is in actuality a lesser accomplishment than making a BCS Championship game, or a 4 team playoff. With many of BK's players no less.
It was only after the rules change did ND benefit from being included in the first place. Much like NIL, the transfer portal, but no, evidently not admissions.
I'm sure every athlete on this ND roster was subject to the exact same standards as every other student that attends, right ? (That's called sarcasm, in case you needed that explained as well.)
Finally, I love how you addressed how it was only after BK left did your alumni and AD invest in supporting the program and its HC.
Never mind the fact that Brady Quinn just said that BK leaving was exactly the driving force behind your alumni and AD to make the changes necessary to compete in the modern college landscape.
Oh wait, you conveniently avoided that because it doesn't fit this little carefully crafted victim role you pussies have made for yourselves and cast BK in the role of both arch villain and simultaneously bumbling buffoon who you are so much better off without. Which is it ?
Finally, I don't know if you've noticed but we have a pretty healthy population of Buckeyes who post here regularly.
They came in 07, and even after they got boat raced, they stuck round and took their medicine, and this is a better board for it. Many of them are regular posters to this day.
Thats because they werent little bitches.
I have a sneaking suspicion that we won't hear a peep from you or your ilk after Monday.
You will slink back to whatever shitty ND board you came from like the whiney little bitches that you all have proven yourselves time after time to be.
Use this as a learning experience. When Freeman leaves yall for some other greener pasture, thank him for all he did for your program and wish him well, root for him, like BK wishes well and roots for yall.
Acting the jilted lover who can't get over the person who left them isn't a good look on anyone, shiny golden helmet or no.

Valiant effort, Mark.
Some people's identity and self-esteem depends on them, or someone they identify with, being better than another person or group. You can see the propping up of BK vs MF and LSU vs ND. It's a loser mentality and mindset of a mental midget. However, it's as American as apple pie. It's probably worse in the south than anywhere in the country. So save your facts and first hand accounts. Most of what you're speaking to is the insecurity and buyer's remorse of a once proud and football savvy fanbase. They'll sober up in a few years.
I bet if I search your post history you'd be one of those LSU fans who wanted to bench JD5 before he went out and won a Heisman.
Go trade in your LSU gear for a gold painted protective helmet.

Here are the inconvenient facts another Notre Dame troll wishes to forget….
Kelly left Freeman the number 5 ranked team in America.
Orgeron left Kelly a 30 scholarship player team with a wide receiver playing quarterback.
LSU plays in SEC. Notre Dame’s hardest regular season opponent this year was Navy and lost to …….Northern Illinois.
Interesting, no discussion of the 2022 Fiesta Bowl or the 2 lackluster seasons following Kelly’s departure.

You know LSU and ND had two common opponents this year right? Guess what each teams record was against those two opponents.

Just showed how unprepared we were on defense. I think that was the most frustrating game of the year for me. The USC game should have done it but I got my hopes up and that killed any hope I had of us possibly going to the playoffs.

There's only so much preparation you can do, if your players don't make plays, then you're going to lose.
Burns, specifically in that game, just refused to make a play. It was baffling to me.

Here are the losses for Kelly’s first 8 ND seasons. 5, 5, 1, 4, 5, 3, 8, 3
The year he went to the NC is an obvious outlier and built on Weis recruits.
Weis averaged 5.4 losses per season. Over the next 8 seasons Kelly averaged 4.25 losses per year.
Kelly went on an excellent roll in his last 4 years averaging 1.5 losses per year. During that excellent W/L stretch, he won 1 post season game, the “Camping World Bowl”. He leveraged that 4 year run into a massive guaranteed contract.
(He and Freeman benefitted from Swarbrick watering down ND’s schedule.)
“In 2011, Notre Dame suffered a brutal loss to the USC Trojans that snapped a four-game winning streak. When faced with criticism of Notre Dame’s performance Kelly was quick to remind the media he had only one recruiting class of his own on the roster, drawing a distinction between “his guys” and Charlie Weis’ holdovers. The comment did not sit well with a host of Notre Dame’s players, including team captain Manti Te’o, who tweeted after the remark, “Playin’ for my bros and that’s it!!!!”
Kelly eventually apologized to the team.
Weis left Kelly with a ton of talent which translated into 2012’s success.
Kelly left ND with a program on a strong 4 year run. The road to get there took the better part of a decade. His post season success has been paltry. Music City? Sun? Camping? I don’t know how to rank his best post season win.
PS It seems to me that the portal and NIL has leveled the playing field across CFB. Kelly left ND 4 months into the start of NIL.
