A lot of this is being amplified by dishonest content creators to get reactions like we saw in OP, and the ignorant dullards fall for it (See the random other X posts trying to recover from the failure that was OP, in this thread)

Read up on France leading the attacks on Muammar Gaddafi in Lybia and how that destabilized the area and created chaos across Northern Africa through the ME, creating the Arab Spring. We're still dealing with displacement from that chain of events.

I don’t know what you consider “honest”. I haven’t looked at the NYT today (i will do so shortly), but the WSJ has an article today entitled “French Leaders Trade Blame After Rioting Sweeps the Nation” that doesn’t seem to be holding back too much (I’m sure it will be considered tame compared to many posters on this board).
