He's right. LSU is bigger than any individual player. If there's a recruit and one of the perks to land him is giving him the number he wants to wear, let him have it. Life goes on. A player does not own a particular number. You wear it and people will remember you wearing that number, but once you are gone, so is that number.

I can assure you if a highly rated and sought after recruit wants #9 to come to LSU Kiffen will respond accordingly. But now they may let JB know what they are planning after this JD clown show. I think it's ridiculous that you have to notify any previous player about numbers on a jersey but I guess in this entitled day and age it is something you have to do.

There’s a finite amount of numbers. Honor the player, retire the jersey in the stadium, eventually build the statue of Heisman winners.
