Bama ran a 3-4 90+% of the time against us and shut LF7 down, he's getting thorough practice against it now

DA doesn't run a 3-4 in the traditional sense the way bama runs it.

Just hard to make heads/tails of anything in the offseason. Offense sucks(huge pass numbers in scrimmage), or defense is great..

People seem to forget that in a scrimmage, our players get 100% of the stats on both sides of the ball. You simply cannot compare those stats to that of a real game, the perspective is completely different

Yes we run 100 play scrimmages which are also situation oriented when really for games we might run 60 to 75 plays in a game.

Sounds overcomplicated...reminds me of rob Ryans schemes.

It's actually a lot more simple at the players' level. It's designed so that the defenders know what is going on and offensive players don't.

From the sound of it, it's working.

Well, that sounds encouraging for the Alabama game...again.

Aranda's scheme is apples to oranges with Saban's. In fact, it's apples to oranges with everyone's. Just like they've done in '07, '08, '10, '11, and '12, LSU simply needs to execute at a high level offensively, primarily in their blocking schemes, and they can move the ball effectively on Saban. Hell, they even ran ok on them in '14 for that matter. The 'BCS title game and last year were the only two games between Saban and Miles where the OL and running game got totally shut down.

We talk a lot about the need for Brandon Harris to improve, and that's true, but a huge part of the reason we haven't been in a position to truly be dominant since 2011 (and 2012 but not to the same extent) is that we haven't had a defense that just breaks you down and demoralizes you.

NO - We haven't been dominant because we had an offense that couldn't sustain drives thereby keeping our defense on the field more than they should be.

Maybe we can figure out bamas 3-4 scheme this year?

Its not like a mystery, its a bunch of fricking animals on the other side of the ball playing their best football.

Really. Oklahoma, Clemson, Utah, Ohio State... it isn't rocket science. It simply requires talented players doing something other than running straight forward into 320lb DLs and 260lb LBs.

LSUs scheme doesn't put the players in a position to execute against Bama. It's simply impossible.

Look at the only teams to beat bama last 5 years. I had a huge thing typed up for this thread last night but figured I'd just get downvotes and also didn't want to pull the narrative from buga which is what the thread was about.

Having buga and guice on the field at the same time poses a way bigger threat to bama then and extra TE and a FB. Lsu has better talent than Clemson but we refuse to do those things. Those same things that made our players top recruits in their class. It's really baffling to me.

A walk on WR diced bama up in that title game. We have people like Tyron Johnson chillen on the sidelines while extra TEs and FBs are on the field. I use Clemson as a comparison because I think Harris has potential to be what Watson is/was. But we put him the worst position to succeed and Watson gets put in the best.

What I like hearing so far is Aranda saying the call is the call and you go. So many times the past few years we'd see DBs and LBs still changing calls at the snap.

This is what I want to see this fall. Fournette and Guice in the backfield together.

Would love to see LF get a few snaps at DE on passing downs.
