So you agree he's jumping mostly up. That's my point. He's up and hanging in the air while he could have taken two steps to reach and get under it. That's all I'm saying.
That would make more sense if he caught the ball on the way down. He timed the jump perfectly. He wouldn't have caught the ball running underneath it
Much better angle

Thanks for the better link.
My only problem with those stills is that you don't see his height off the ground.
quote:I disagree. The point is that he jumps up at an angle to catch a ball that's coming down at an angle. It would make more sense if I could draw it out like a physics problem.

That's not at all how it works. Now could he have taken a deeper angle so he didn't have to jump? Maybe, maybe not, but in no way does he make that catch without jumping.

Had he just kept running, he would have gone right under it...

You know my background (stalker), but did you know I also have a physics degree? ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Half wrong! Foster's catch was AWESOME! Detroit outfielder only had to dive b/c he wasn't sprinting all out like Foster from the get geaux. That catch by Foster is one of best ever - especially when you consider bases loaded and 2 out to save game. Spectacular! Comparison offensively is Morris' homer in CWS. It was that good and YES he had to dive. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbirdtongue.gif)

By jumping, he caught it. Everything else is 100% speculation.

I know. Hence why I'm using words like "guessing" and "I think". It's a harmless discussion.

Fosters was a highlight play. That other one was borderline routine.

No problem. WE just don't think you're right.

Damn, I can feel that burn from here.

Or he just could have taken a better route to the ball and diving would be an afterthought anyway.
