there is a difference between having respect for your former coach and not caring if your alma mater defeats him or not.

It could be players that would not have come to LSU if it hadn't been for Saban...we could be talking about the 2002 recruiting class for all we know.

read the guy above my first post where he claims a former player said he didn't care who wins between LSU and Alabama.

probably Matt Mauck

This would be my guess, and I really don't have a problem with it. After all, he transferred down here from Michigan State when Saban took the LSU job.

You have to understand that a lot of these kids have no loyalty to anyone. They don't give two shits about the name on the front. They care only about the name on the back and the guy that helped them get the money in their pocket. I really don't care if Skyler's arse wants to pull for bama. just don't be expecting love from us and sideline passes when you want to come crawling back to LSU for a game. We remember these things.

Many of you all obviously did not play college athletics or have close friends or family members that did.

A. Players choose a school to play for as much b/c of the coaches as the school. B. Often fans get more upset about losses than players.

I'm sure Saban has friends in BR from his time here. But I doubt they pull for Bama just because he is employed by them. I don't see why any LSU player would ever pull for Bama over LSU unless their own kid went there and even then I wouldn't agree. To pull for your coach over your team is absurd. Its obvious by the twitter language they write in that most of these guys are about 2 fries short of a happy meal. Of all the players I knew in college, none of them pull for Bama now and most didn't ever care for Saban. If Skylar and his boyz wanna cum on a crimsonette now, so be it. But you might wanna do it privately or your time at LSU will be forgotten.

If I was a former player and couldn't get tickets any other way - I would probably say I am a Saban fan if it got me in to this game - it doesn't mean they won't cheer for the Tigers anyway. And they probably will enjoy themselves with the Tiger victory!

You should watch the 30/30 on "The U". There is a lot of pride in those former players that has nothing to do with their coaches.

So, dissing former (unnamed) LSU Tiger players that are planning on going to the biggest game of the century for LSU say "no, we wont cheer for LSU, we are Saban fans" is suddenly immature.

Give me a break.

Maybe the guys just want tickets to the game. I can be a LSU fan, and sit in an Alabama section, and not be a jerk about it. I could pull for the Tigers, cheer a little bit, but not offend anyone around me.

A lot of people in this thread have jumped to conclusions way too fast. I didn't read anywhere in that link where the players said, "Yes, I'm pulling for Bama just because Saban is at Bama."

liking/respecting your coach is one thing, pulling for him over your school is something else. its fine, its still a relatively free country, but i hope if they are more loyal to Saban, that they are not coming back to LSU for anything.

This thread is a great illustration of how wide the gap/big the disconnect between players and the fans...
