Was listening to Lee Brecheen's podcast today and John Bond, who was the only QB to defeat LSU four times, talked about playing against the Tigers. The link is below:

This would have been the end of my life had I been alive. Holy shite they beat us 5 times in a row from 1980 to 1984

Was there too. The prior game I had been to Birmingham an watched us “Beat the Bear” for the first time in 12 years. Never forget how mad I was after that State game.

I was at the misty night when Tulane beat LSU in 1982. Charles had a 70 plus yard run from North to SW Endzone and I thought LSU would win. My Dad gave 2 tickets to some Tulane friends he had and would not get in the car to ride back home so he showed up the next day at the house.

Edit: I was talking about 79 game but I was at the 82 game too.

At that time Tulane was a very bitter rival. Lots of fights on and off the field. Tulane and uptown NOLA would everything they could to hurt LSU. The Sugar Bowl never wanted the Tigers.

Yeah because it was Garry James who broke the long run at the end of the ‘82 game. I seem to remember it was almost 90 yards, and we thought the game was won.

John Bond and that damn Wishbone offense. They didn’t win a lot of games but always beat LSU.

Bad arse that LSU couldn't stop to save their lives. Bond read-optioned LSU to death.

82 was my last year at LSU/TGBFTL.

I had a long rivalry with my uncle from Tuscaloosa, who was a big Bama supporter and personal friends with Bear Bryant.

He was the one that started my parents (And me) going to LSU games because he got us tickets every season to the LSU vs Bama game.

Of course, since the tickets were from Alabama, the seats were always right next to the Million Dollar Band right in the middle of all those Pom Poms.

They always beat the hell out of us, so I grew up hating Alabama with a passion. (Especially their Fight Song and Rammer Jammer)

Fast forward to 1982; last chance to beat Bama while a TB member and it happened in B'Ham with Risher and Hilliard leading the charge. (20-10)

The "Thrill of Victory and agony of Defeat" (ABC WWOS) happened the next week against 007 Bond.

John Bond. The biggest enigma in all the years I've watched LSU football. Was he a great player? Hell no. Did he lead Miss St to greatness? Hell no. But against LSU, I can't think of another player that was simply unstoppable. I remember thinking, ok, we've got him this year... then sitting there slack jawed in disbelief while he just dominated the game.

His career completion pct? 46.2%
Career TD passes? 18
Career Interceptions? 37

His 1982 team went 5-6. They had lost 6 straight games before the LSU game and the tigers were ranked 6th. What happened? He somehow beats us.

His 1983 team went 3-8 and had lost 7 straight coming into the LSU game. What happened? He crushed LSU.

Are you kidding me? Could not WAIT until he left Miss St. :)

I think a baker kid named Dana Moore or something like that kicked a game winning field goal one of those four times.
