What qualifications does Faulk have that make you think he would be good in a Player Personnel position?

What's wrong with this question?
nothing at all.

Faulk was one of my childhood heroes and one of the saviors of our program but I honestly don't know anything about what he's done since his playing career that makes him a slam dunk addition to the staff. I'm glad he's back home but maybe you could explain what he brings to the staff and what precisely his role will be instead of bitching about people hypothetically bitching about the hire.

I'll venture the answer... partially it has to do with the 'clout' the name brings. We all acknowledge that. Also some 'clout' that many might have not considered within the LA high school coaching ranks. Think 'networking'. But that's only a partial answer and not exactly what you were asking.

Someone who has that much experience with that level of players very likely has value in the scouting and evaluation aspect. That's where I see both his value and responsibility lying. He's seen NFL level players, and has coached HS players. What I'm venturing is that he can connect the dots from the starting point to the ultimate final point and, hopefully, identify the 'most upside player' because he's now got it book-ended.

So this might help people get over the E hire?

Really not getting the requirement for SEC approval. At what point point does LSU tell the SEC to STTDB?

LSU should have bailed on the SEC years ago.

IMO LSU and Arkansas should both petition the Big 12.

I'm sure the SEC chanters will come out in force to yell at me, explain that there's no Bama bias and if we went to the Big 12 we would be at the mercy of Texas!

Dumbass? Wow, what an intelligent and insightful response! Was my post that offensive to you? Did I not mention the perceived Longhorns bias. Do you not think that I have considered that bias or do you believe my thoughts, like yours, are driven by emotion over logic?

LSU's football staff will have THREE guys who were coaches/players with Super Bowl rings.
yeah im not sure this is gonna be as awe inspiring on the recruiting trail as you seem to think. Faulk was obviously a huge weapon for the Patriots and he earned his, but these kids were -15 when he got his last one.

as for Greg McMahon, when the Saints won the SB, we were...

15th in kick return yards, 23rd in punt return yards, and 21st in FG percentage (though Hartley did get that up to 20th when he took over).

about the only thing we were noteworthy in was punting ( 6th), because Morstead is a good punter.

Courtney Roby was our best kick returner at 18th. we were unranked in punt return yards.

Reggie Bush somehow only averaged 6.6 yards per punt return.

Lance Moore was our best returner at 10.2 ypr, but I guess he didnt have enough attempts to be ranked.

thats who 0 hired. im not sure it helps much.

Didn’t the same thing happen with Shea Patterson and his brother at Ole Miss?
