Ro will go down in my personal LSU Hall of Fame for one game: he was a J.Reed fumble after the catch on what would have been a 75 yrd pass, catch & run TD from lighting bama up for 700+ yrds in passing. LSU blew the tide out on the road in one of LSU's best games ever against the tide. LSU ended up with a bit over 600 yrds passing that game.

The problem is when he was playing relatively well he was babied and didn't throw a ton.

Agreed. One of Miles' biggest flaws is his reluctance to let a qb get into a groove at times. Its like after 2008 he said he would never let a young qb lose the game again and ever since then he has not been the same except when Mett was a senior.

what elephant in the room?
Everyone knows teams will load the box against us. It cant an elephant in the room if everyone on earth knows it and acknowledges it. I think the poster thought Ro was saying it would be easy to shut down Harris.

I think he is going to have more confidence in him this year.

A whole year under his belt, that is huge for any position , especially QB.

After playing QB in high school and a couple of years in college, I can say with certainty that game reps in game situations are more important in developing the passing game than reps in practice.

As the season approaches, you aren't taking practice reps against the first team defense. From that point foward, you're going against a scout team running the opponent's defense. You'd better figure out a way to throw the ball against Wisconsin and Jacksonville State or you won't figure it out in November. No scout teams on the schedule.

LSU winning blueprint should be to actually practice the passing game in live game situations against the likes of directional state u teams rather than run for 400 at a 65% clip.

Ok but i have a hard time believing throwing against scrub u helps against bama. The windows will be far smaller and you wont be able to be comfortable in the pocket. I get what youre saying about live reps though. We shouldve tried to get Harris more comfortable early on. I think one of the reason we played it safe early was because we misse a tune up game and went starigjt into sec play against teams that were supposed to be good. Didnt the ap pick aubur to win the sec last yeat.

But you dont practice plays in a game that Harris isnt running well in practice is my point. Of course live reps helps more than practice. I agree we shouldve let harris throw more early in the season.
But passing against eastern michigan doesnt help you against bama. Nothing at all is the same. Windows are smaller, pocket is muddier, you have less time in the pocket. Throwing against our dbs in practice helps more than throwing against eastern michigan in game.

Miles' inability to develop a creative gameplan to defeat teams loading the box.

JRuss was better than Davey and Davey is my all time favorite lsu qb.

There is nothing that points to Davey being better.
