Except you had different standards with Miles, even after going 8-5

See, this is the ridiculousness I’m talking about.

Yes, Miles went 8-5. Once in year four, after the best three year stretch in LSU history that ended in an SEC and national title.

And again in year 10, after the best four year stretch in team history and a second SEC title and NCG appearance.

Miles had earned time to right the ship and had already proven his ability to win at the highest level.

You comparing Miles and Orgeron shows the fundamental dishonesty or willful ignorance that your ilk displays at all times.

didn't even want Miles fired after 2015 and losing three straight

Good for you.

I posted on this board that Miles needed to win the West in 16 or his time had come.

I think O will never have a better setup than this year to go 11-1 and if he doesn’t he never will.

Not even holding him to the same standard of Miles to beat Alabama and win the West.

Is that unreasonable?

True... but it’s not a good indication that next year will be a lot better.

Alabama was better than us in every way thisnuear.

And I mean Every what, and this was Alabama’s worst defense in probably a decade.

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. Alabama came to Baton Rouge and schooled us in every phase of the game. Many of their players who did that will return to play this year. Saban who has owned O in every way for three years is still there. Alabama has the best recruiting in the SEC.

But its ok, you can keep thinking Saban going to fall apart, O is going find all the answers, and E will suddenly become a great OC if you want. That kind of shite happens all the time.

This isn't about which team is better. It's about the fact that you can't objectively prove it one way or another.

You cant objectively prove half of the shite that is fodder for message board discussions. Do you throw temper tantrums like this in any of the litany of "Greatest LSU ___ of all time?" discussions? No one is arguing it is a 100% objective fact that this wasn't the best Bama team ever. Obviously the 2018 Bama team can't go back in time and play any of their other great teams. I still don't understand why this angers you so much. There are objective facts which WOULD SUPPORT THE STANCE that this wasn't the best Bama team ever. I think that's all anyone has said.

You make some fair points, but if someone told you in July that we'd finish ranked #6 in the country, you'd have said this team must have met or exceeded its potential.

He in fact played in the toughest division in all of college football AND AGAINST UF every year who won during that time.
You people are fricking idiots when it comes to schedule and SOS.

You can’t even compare AU, UF, Arky, BAMA, Etc from those 10 years to the last 2. No comparison. The boost this year was solely based on propping BAMA and UGa. Well we saw what happened to UGA losing to a bad UT team.
Losing to UF and TAMU was inexcusable.

Nah. The boost came from beating what were thought to be top 15ish Miami and Auburn teams.

That turned out to be wrong.

ETA: It's the same mindset that leads people to claim them as "Top 10" wins even after the season is over and they combined for 11 losses.

Rankings don't tell the whole story.

We went 9-3. Yes there was a really big win or two but there were also a couple of very disappointing losses. That isn't anything different than we've seen since 2012. It is the definition of the status quo.

As for what I thought in July, I posted all off-season that the schedule was not as hard as it was being built up to be, and the addition of Burrow made this a 10-2 team but I felt that we would drop a game we shouldn't.

So, no, I certainly don't think we exceeded our potential or even met it for that matter.

Am I trashing the staff or saying it was an awful year? No, but we once again for the sixth season in a row now didn't do anything to show we are serious contenders the way we were before 2012.

Probably because we should have been 10-2

Most people who keep up with football understand that 7 OT game was a tossup even missing key players and getting a terrible call to extend the last OT.

No, it’s because there were only a few teams in the country with less than three losses.

The only P5 team with 2 losses we finished ahead was Washington State who wasn’t in the top 10.

Don’t care to do the research, but I’m guessing that’s an anomaly in CFB.

It is. You usually have 10-12 teams with 2 or fewer losses.

You notice that huh?

People tell me that we're on the cusp of greatness. But when I say "cool, we should expect a playoff run this season" we get told to hold our horses.

We're out of line if we expect a deadline on this project. But it's coming, or rather, "we comin, we comin, we comin."

Who cares??

We went 9-3.

The same as in 2013, 2015, and 2017.

Unless there is another of some meltdown where everyone loses 3 games we aren’t competing for anything at 9-3.
