I went and looked at their schedule. They've also lost to Northern KY and Army. They play Clemson this wknd, that could get ugly.

Sad
He is a good guy and an excellent baseball coach whose time has passed. He should have quit while he was ahead.

he can stay at South Carolina as long as he wants, easier team to play in a loaded SEC
Josh Jordan will be a head coach soon

their SEC schedule is brutal like everyone else
@ Fla
Ark
UNC midweek
@ UGA
Texas
@ Mizzou
Miss St
UK
@ LSU
Bama
@ Vandy

I don't see him surviving that

He only qualifies as a “good guy” if you’re a journalist looking for another super candid quote for your publication or if you’re one of the players he played favorite over other clearly more deserving options.

It goes much deeper than a glance at the man in front of a microphone. I appreciate him bringing LSU another CWS, but being a “good guy” matters next to nothing when you’re the head coach of a major college program. Results are 98% of the calculation, and, from an achievement standpoint, he underperformed in his lengthy tenure. I don’t care about regular season records or SECT championships. The time that matters in from regionals onward. There were teams full of talent that he couldn’t get out of a home regional or a home super regional, not withstanding the fact that #ThatsJustBeisbol, are are difficult to get over. You combine the maddening mismanagement of bullpens, favoritism of players, and specifically the constant throwing of players under the bus, you’ll find yourself disliked by many people who actually follow the team throughout the entirety of every season.

I was surprthat PM came out of retirement. I was even more surprised that South Carolina hired him.

It’s HCB’s way of saying it was gay for PM to have his adult son hang out next to him in the dugout those last few years.

Well, use to run into him all the time in the baseball club. I doubt he just flew in to attend games.

If CMP was an stocked item in your grocery store, he would be labeled "On Sale - Item past the sell-by date." USCe should have known better.

Omg, South Carolina lost to Queens, who won't even be a school next year as they are merging with Elon University. This is actually rock bottom

This is actually a little over-dramatic. Queens will still exist, just probably with a different name...kinda like UNO "merging" with LSU

What has happened to USCar? They were so good in baseball in most of 2010s

multiple bad hires in a row by their former coach of that elite program

Chad Holbroock was Tanner long-time assistant. He lasted 5 years, never made it to Omaha and missed the NCAAT twice. He's been the coach at College of Charleston since 2018. Then they hired Mark Kingston out of USF. He lasted 7 years, also never made it out of the supers and missed the NCAAT twice. He's the coach at Creighton now.

Maineiri has become the Brian Kelly of college baseball. He was a good coach with a championship season however, when he wore a younger man's clothes.

why does every coach here have to be the "insert sport" version of another former coach? He's nothing like Kelly. Mainieri actually had success here. Kelly did not.

Mainieri won 4 SEC titles, 6 SECT titles, had 5 trips to Omaha, 1 national title 1 runner-up finish.

Brian Kelly had 0 SEC titles, 0 trips to the CFP, 0 national titles. His only "hardware" was an appearance in the SECCG his first year and a couple of bowl game wins.

The only thing they have in common is they both came here from Notre Dame

Tanner obviously was a really good coach especially looking back at his tenure.
