I’m genuinely curious, as well.

BTW: LSU fans are extremely familiar with the four stages of coaching change grief during the reign of the Ogre.
Really? Stage 2, go 15-0 and win the national championship?

Stage one: Delusional optimism, which we were in through 2019.
Don't get me wrong though - I liked Orgeron, but I (and others) who suspected he wasn't head-coach material deluded ourselves to think otherwise - especially after 2019.
Lets be honest: In 2019, Orgeron caught lightning in a bottle. It didn't happen because he was a great coach that far surpassed Miles (who everyone said was holding us back - sound familiar?)
2019 happened because Orgeron was a good-ish coach with the CFB version of the dream team and a whale of a coaching staff.
If he was a GREAT coach, then 2020 and 2021 wouldn't have been the painful, walk barefoot on broken glass seasons we all experienced.
So, yeah, we went through the stages with Orgeron too. We just hung around in Stage 1 a little longer than normal due to "circumstances".

Brian Kelly took literally 1 ND player from the roster (the punter) as a grad transfer. There shouldn’t be anything that needs rebuilding. They also have one of the best TE’s in the country.

I think you all are misinterpreting this. He’s not sheeting on Kelly. He’s just essentially saying that he’s not an interim coach

That doesn't mean ND shouldn't be at least 5-1 right now, but even their fans thought the Irish were overrated to start this season with games against Ohio State, Clemson and USC.
Notre Dame now expected to lose to USC and Clemson, and I wouldn't be surprised if Syracuse rips them too.

I was told her was the chosen one to lead ND to the promise land

Who knows what the whole context is but he has no excuses for having losses to Marshall and Stanford.

I think their combined winning record is atrocious

He was just the safe hire. Players wanted him, fand wanted him, media wanted him.
Its a major leap to go from DC at Cincinnati to HC at ND in two years. He would have probably been better off at a lower profile school to earn his head coaching stripes.
