Do you know what "pound for pound" means?

Yes and it still doesn't apply. There's not a single argument you can make for Ford's athletic superiority over Peterson.

Also here are Ingram's Freshman numbers versus Richardson's:

Ingram: 143 carries for 728 yards, 5.1 YPC, 12 TDs

Richardson: 145 carries for 751 yards, 5.2 YPC, 8 TDs

So .1 YPC difference makes Richardson so much better despite ave 2/3 the TDs Ingram had.

He is soooooo much better.

I saw plenty of Ford in HS. He has it all. Speed, vision, power, you name it. He should not have been red-shirted last year, but he is only stronger and faster now. He will burst on the scene and bring comparisions to Emmit Smith. With any kind of O line play we will have a dominating running game this year with Ford and Ridley running around and over people and Ware knocking people over and picking holes inside. These guys will make life a lot easier for Jefferson.

People look at stars and think they are the do all end all for the rest of a players career. Ford was a 4 star he wasn't a mile behind Richardson. It isn't liek these two guys are no where near the same level.

If bama fans are all over Richardson we'll take ingram sure thing.

FootballNostradamus, I have to disagree as well. Ford is a beast by all standards. Not only did he break records by what some call as one of the LSU greatest running backs in Cecil Collins, but according to this statement, the guy is definitely one hell of an athlete:

Ford: In summer workouts, was the only offensive skill player to rank in the top five on the team in the vertical jump, power clean, bench press and squat ... Posted a team-best 42 inches in the vertical jump and was second on the squad in the clean at 352 pounds ... Benched 425 pounds and squatted 510 pounds in May 2010 ... Received recognition in Bruce Feldman's ESPN.com "Top Workout Warriors" in June 2010 ... Named Student-Athlete of the Month in March by the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes.

Ford was the second strongest player on the team pound for pound last year.

that is true and all, but if Ridley runs like he's capable of none of those guys touch him, Ingram, Richardson or his teammate Ford because the dude is like a runaway locomotive.

The truth!

Ford shouldn't be in the same discussion as Trent Richardson yet.

Keep the hype down. I think Ford will have a great career (compairing him to Ingram already???) but he's got to 1) say healthy, 2) show that he can play on Sat afternoon, and 3) have a decent O-line. Remember, there are alot of 200 lb, fast, strong athletes watching LSU play Sat afternoon.

Ford is better than anything Cheesedick will trot out there this season, so that's a decent start.

And after we rush for more than 2,600 yards and LSU doesn't go over 2,000 are you still going to think the same thing ?

Mike Dyer
Onterrio McCalebb
Mario Fannin

Remember those names.

you're a dumb frick. Dyer has less experience than Ford even.

I remember this past season standing outside of Bryant-Denny waiting on some of my press buddies to finish postgame stuff, when I overheard someone say, "Trent you played so good baby!" I turned to see Richardson and his family. My first thought: "THAT'S Trent Richardson??" Not in pads, he didn't look like a real imposing figure...when the whistle blows though, he somehow blows up into some kind of animal. If Ford could be anything like TR then we'll be pretty well off

If you wanna say Ford is arguably the strongest pound-for-pound player then I'd be fine with that. But athletically, what Peterson does while carrying the weight he carries is just absurd.

Mark Ingram is better than Richardson. He has some of the best vision I have ever seen in a running back. He might not have the speed of Richardson but Ingram is really strong and his change of direction is top notch.

Seeing the holes before they actually open up, and the ability to change direction might be the two most important attributes a RB can have. Especially in our zone blocking scheme, where cutting back happens more often than not.

Yes, this is my biggest concern--whether Ford and even Ware will see the field enough with Murphy there. We know Ridley will get his chances. Miles better learn to play the best ones, regardless of class. Murphy has shown very little so far, and can't seem to stay healthy. Let's get the best player on the field.
