Everybody would do what Wade did.
Imagine you’re LSU. You might be in trouble because of something your coach has done. You ask him for his side of the story before you do anything. He refuses to talk to you. What do you do?
With all due respect, your point is horrible. You’re advocating for Wade above LSU.

there is no investigation happening currently, you suspended Wade over a search engine and meant tweets from an old basketball sportscaster.
Thats pathetic.

Why is Bill Self still coaching as of today?

I would’ve gone to the meeting.
But let’s be honest the only reason his lawyer would say don’t go to the meeting would be to not say something that would void his contract. The whole they might get subpoenaed crap is bs...all they would have to say is under no circumstances say anything that would incriminate yourself

I don’t understand what’s wrong with Alleva having Wade’s back until all the facts come out. Even him just coming out and saying “no comment until we see all the evidence” I mean he suspended a dude bc a yahoo hack journalist wrote a hit piece. What a puss

Nope I'm just asking what would you do if it had been you in Wade's position with an attorney who said NO to a meeting.

Why not go to the meeting with your attorney and let the attorney sensor what questions can and can’t be answered?
This is what should have happenned. I’m not sure why it didn’t, because whether I like it or not it indeed is a bad look for Wade (or his attorney) to simply refuse to meet.
I think it has less to do with the subpoena and more to do with his potential to get fired from LSU with cause. His attorney is trying to protect $9million.

Wade was in a tight spot...because the LSU administration put him in the tight spot.
He really didn't have any options.
He needed the LSU administration to take the position like this:
"This is a unique situation that is complicated by a Federal investigation that has touched several Universities. We are continuously monitoring the situation and the actions of our peer universities.
As always, we will cooperate with the NCAA in any way possible"

I wouldn't have put myself in a situation where I had to make that choice.
But I'm not a cheating cheater who cheats
Guy recruits a kid in his back yard, and a 3rd party presents itself to handle negotiations for the kid. Do you think Will Wade wants that?
It's the reality of the sport right now. Wade didn't create that situation.

He may be called as a witness in a trial in April in which Wade is not even a party. So what. If he cannot tell his employer that he didn't cheat, he will be fired. What some lawyer in some lawsuit in the future wants to question him about has nothing to with his inability to tell his boss that he did not pay players.
He's going to be deposed by Federal prosecutors. Certainly you understand that, no?
EVERYTHING he says from now until them needs to be considered through that lens.

Imagine you're Wade -- you're called in for a "meeting" -- your LAWYERS say "don't do it -- keep your mouth closed".
What would you have done???
Perhaps ask him if we can go in together so he can advise me what not to say, maybe suggest they have a lawyer too and parlay it as a client meeting covered by attorney client privilege?
Ultimately, if I refused I would have expected to be suspended at a minimum. Since I don't have an employment contract with a buyout clause, I would expect to be fired.
For those thinking Wade is protecting LSU, wouldn't you have to be also consider that he is protecting himself from his contract being terminated for cause?
Ultimately, I hope this blows over quickly and we ger Will Wade back, I am not terribly optimistic. I also hope that Alleva gets his walking papers because of this however it turns out.

It’s such a basic move now that he’s being subpoenaed. They’re gonna use whatever they have so don’t say a fricking thing about it to anyone. The thing that drives me nuts is the fact that King Alexander and Joe Alleva couldn’t recognize that.
What does suspending him now do?
