Back then we used to assume we were going to be in the NCAA tournament.

I'm really shocked so many folks are suprised over this, if you watched the last half of last season it was 100% obvious that JJ was a terrible coach. Think about how many teams didn't have 2 1st Round NBA draft picks who made it further in the tournament than we did.

The Gray/Quarterman saga last year was really weird. Jones and Miles are both lax in areas.

LSU was a 10 seed playing a 1 seed Indiana in the elite 8.

Despite the fact that it was quite possibly one of the biggest screw jobs in LSU sports history....

and despite the fact that Indiana basketball has one of the biggest budgets in America and LSU literally had no budget....

and despite the fact that Indiana was a vastly more talented team than LSU in 1987...

LSU lost by 1 freaking point to Indiana. Good job of kicking the LSU coach and swallowing the load of Knight.

Congrats to you and the other fools that bring up this dumb quote every year.

Dale's best teams were eliminated by the following teams...

1979 lost to Magic Johnson and national champion Michigan st.

1981 lost in final 4 to Isiah Thomas and nationalchampion Indiana

1986, as an 11 seed, lost in the final 4 to national champion Louisville.

1987 , as a 10 seed, lost to national champion Indiana.

1990 lost to Georgia Tech who went to the final 4 behind Kenny Anderson, Dennis Scott, and Brian Oliver.

You guys should get on your knees and pray for the next Dale Brown era.

From 1978 to 1993 LSU was a tough team only missing the NCAA tourney in 82 and 83.

Brown is the only SEC Coach to ever go to 15 consecutive national tournaments and only 11 coaches in history have made more consecutive NCAA tournaments. He set national attendance records with games in the Dome against big-time opponents (and won them all), won SEC Championships and went to two Final Fours. You think this is the 2nd era of that?

I was there when Dale came and took undermanned teams to new pinnacles for LSU Basketball....Big Shaq and Chris Jackson left early or there would have been a NCAA Championship banner inn the PMAC.....but his teams always competed at the highest level and were fun to watch....

You gonna tell me Dale Brown was a great coach? He was maybe the best we have ever had but that is about it. He had a team with arguably 2 of the best players in the country and a very good starting lineup and no national title. Yes he did underachieve those years. Got severely out coached during the post season and that's a fact.

That's a lot of choking. You ain't great until you can at least win a NC especially during the Shaquille years. That team won purely on talent alone.

I'm not saying he's great.

Just the absurdity that he is in any way just as good as JJ is, well, fricking retarded.

What I do remember about the Dale Brown era is two final fours, two more elite 8's, one more Sweet 16, Ten straight NCAA Tournament appearances, Fifteen straight Post season appearances, and four SEC Titles with one more SEC Tournament titles.

LSU has made back to back tourneys once since Dale ended his streak in 93
