I swear some people on here would rather see us run some Princeton back door shite and score 60 a game
We should bust out the flex offense. We aren't going to score shite, but hey it'll look pretty with all that movement. That's what the OP needs to see.

I’ve really noticed how much ball action, high screens, movement off the ball and cutting other teams run, and are really successful with.
The entire point is to get ahead of the defense by motion that opens a lane to drive into the paint for a higher percentage shot and if the paint is defended kick it out to a open shooter. It doesn’t work all the time.

Why the hell do we run so much ISO ball and not enough of this?
The entire point is to isolate our skilled offensive player against one defender and have them drive to the paint for a higher percentage shot or kick it out to an open shooter.
ISO ball fails when we face really good defensive teams and shooters like Thomas don’t come off of ball screams and fill in the gap left by Smart or Watford that they can pass to when the defense converges.

We run the weave sometimes
So does Arkansas

ETA: some teams also don’t have 3 dudes who can create their own shot whenever they want.
If Smart & Thomas to 9-28 against any other team from here on out, LSU has zero shot.
LSU has guys that can get their own shot but it’s proven to be unreliable. The downfall is they don’t make their teammates better, so you kinda live & die by it.

You're debating experts on here who played rec ball at institutions like SELU and BRCC. You're gonna have to up your jargon game.

For the life of me, I will never understand how we have a top 10 offense (consistently) and yet the means are questioned.
The answer: we have 4 players who would likely start on 98% of NCAA teams. This creates 1v1 opportunities. We do run picks for ball handlers all the time. See “horn” and “baseline” plays. I know many of you turn off your volume but you could literally hear them yelled by Wade all year on TV.

It’s the same people that complain about Wade all year. The usual suspects.
Hilarious that it happens after they win an NCAA tourney game by 15 points.

LSU runs a different offense than most teams because they have different (better) offensive personnel than most teams. Think about what the NBA game looks like with their skilled offensive players.

Its simple:
Wade recruits playmakers, and he lets them make plays. That is the LSU offense, period. There is NO movement strategy, and it is way evident on inbounds plays....
ISO or bust!

There WAS a LOT of off the ball movement yestetday. I watched for that specifically. Cam was constantly in motion when he didnt have the ball. They were chasing him all over the court. Leblanc and Days set quite a few screens. Sometimes double screens out front. Spacing the floor is a big part of LSU's offense. It worked well yesterday.

It's interesting that you start off with coaching criticisms but then it turns out you fear Michigan because their big guy is good. As you seem to see in the end, basketball has always been more about talent level than in game coaching. You can't coach height and talent into a player if they don't already have it.
The other thing that's strange is you don't see all the coaching that has gone into this team. Watford, Smart and Dayes have improved every year. They now know how to play together off each other. The whole team is playing great defense and rebounding because of coaching. When something goes wrong lately, it is almost always because a player made a mistake or a bad decision, not because the coaching scheme is so awful.

The only thing you described that we don’t do is the back door cutting. Teams who can’t beat people off the dribble use this a lot more than teams like us who can. We run plenty of ball screens and off ball action and instead of back cuts we use pick and roll or pick and pop. Our offense is top 10 in efficiency and production, it’s the best offense since Wade’s been here so I’m not sure what the complaint is? Our defense was the issue early on but since we’ve moved away from the zone and into man we’ve played at a much higher level overall. We’re peaking at the right time.

I'll say it again, go find a defensive minded Assistant Coach and we'll be fine.

I always been with LSU basketball since I was a kid. Been a supporter. Just an observation I notice we play a different brand. Not saying it’s terrible, just hoping we keep up what we did yesterday! I’m just nervous about the game tomorrow

Tomorrow you will the contrast between 1-1 iso vs movement team ball. They play inside out and swing the ball on every possession. We will continue to isolation Watford and Thomas and let them do their thing.
