This really sux for us sports fans. But this is not liberals and media trying to get Trump.
When you have team owners, leagues, and NCAA, etc all willingly giving up millions out of their pockets to shutdown or postpone for a month, it is serious. It is the nature and speed of spreading of this Virus that is different.
Typical flu is contagious when you have a fever. You know are sick so you stay home. This thing, you can be walking around for 2 weeks spreading it before you feel bad. It lives on surfaces for days unlike the common flu.
Then the death rate of common flu is .01%. The death rate on this Virus is 1-3%. Imagine if the same number of people that got the flu each year, got this. The numbers would be unreal. I think these leagues, team owners, and NCAA are trying to get ahead of it because it could get exponentially worse very fast. We are on a similar track as Italy.

OMG, the Trump conspiracy theorists are more scary than anything else.
This is a world wide thing. Do you really believe all of these countries around the world are causing their economies to tank, their people to die, just to make Trump look bad? This is actually an opportunity for Trump to show that he’s the leader you think he is. USUALLY that’s what happens when you have a crisis.
It’s not the flu. The death RATE is the big difference. If the same number of people had coronavirus as have the flu, we would be talking about millions of deaths, not thousands.
How can you people be educated and think like that?

Yes it is.
There is no doubt that there is a crisis...
but by the Democratic/Socialist code, it must not be allowed to go to waste.
All will be done, with the help of the liberal news media, to damage the economy, then it will be used against Trump.
Specially with the many that "just repeat" what they are told to repeat.

Your mind is much to simple to under the game of chess that power brokers play on a daily basis with the worthless pawns in order to achieve their ultimate goal. What's going on in the US is its separate ordeal which is part of a larger ordeal. You have to look pass the the tree and mature a little. Tell China thanks

the professional sports world, schools, conferences officials are only following suit to what they are being fed by the media. Of all the sickness, and disease that have come and gone in my time, over half a century closing down the world has never even been a thought as it is happening now.
Notice that every single case of someone coming down with the virus is reported. Why aren't those tens of thousands who come down with the common flu reported? Or the thousands of deaths from the common flu that occur every year in the U.S.? Of course the liberal news media is pushing this to damage the economy, and the markets, and in the end Trump will get blamed for something which will be invented by the democrats, and liberals before it's over. More to come.. It's a legal scam for political gain. Stay tuned.

Wait you used Magic as a reason people are overreacting now and then said this. Do you not see the issue there?...

Today and 9/12/01 are so eerily the same.

I remember the H1N1. We didn’t see near the hysteria.. not even remotely close. and 4,000 Americans were killed, 575,000 worldwide many of which were kids.. and they had major vaccine delays. there were like 100 Americans die in a 5 day period which is why Obama declared a national emergency that October 23 which was during the AL and NLCS. Games went on .. and the World Series was played. The Saints were in the midst of their super bowl run. The N1H1 didn’t really die down til the winter of 2010. Americans after about 5 days of their culture and passions stolen will get old. I think this will be completely overblown and hopefully things will get back to some since of normalcy within 2 weeks and will have ball games being played.

If things are under control in two weeks we can revisit a lot of things. Nothing wrong with a pause and reset under the circumstances.

You're completely right, and everyone knows it. So is the ncaa. People just want to whine and are lashing out at those being voice of reason. The only thing I keep hearing is to be sensative to sport lovers and let them lash out. Fine.
Just don't claim it's panic or stupid and I'll leave it alone and let you whine.

The alternative is to stop being pussies about it and not cancel everything. That's what's pissing people off. I can understand looking out for the elderly or those at high risk of not being able to fight off the virus, but to cancel all of the shite they have for everybody is too radical man. It's way over the top for what's truly going on. It's the continued pussification of the world and now America is becoming like them. I'm sorry, but this is severe overreaction bc of how the media has pushed this virus and portrayed it's "severity" to the public, many of whom are stupid as frick, and they're believing the bullshite. There's a definite agenda by the media and the left to smear Trump through this with the election coming up. Their agenda has made such a big deal of it that it has forced the hand of all liable parties of any event to shut them down because of the possibility of a lawsuit. It's pussy arse liberal bullshite that's caused this type of reaction and youre a fricking moron if you cant understand that. This is ridiculous.

concentrated effort of the dems, and liberal news media to frighten the sheep, successfully bring down the economy and the markets in one fell swoop. All in the name of politics. I hope it's only the purest of flakes who are falling for this shite. The fact that their BS is affecting things i enjoy doing pisses me off.
Christ on a biscuit some of you people are inexplicably gullible.
I hate to get into it with all of the medical professionals and epidemiologists on this thread but google “flatten the curve” and read a couple of the myriad articles from reputable sources about the thought process behind the cancellations. Science can be fun but you’ll have to leave the cable news bullshite behind for about a half hour.

posted this in another thread sorry for thr dup.
3 types of people making the decisions:
1) This type, even though, possibly over reacting is genuinely concerned and are deciding based on rate of spreading, etc of the virus. Can not fault them.
2) Old white men in power wanting to protect their jobs. This group ran to the attorneys first to cover their arse in case something went wrong and the attorneys told them to get over to the most cautious side just in case.
3) this group is lurking in the background and doing everything to tank the economy. they will come out in force at election time conveniently forgetting that they aided in the decline and the why. They will be aided by sympathetic news media.

Was the point of removing the hundreds of thousands of fans. That was high-reward/low-damage.
Outright cancellations create only marginal rewards but massive damage.
