I was sitting in Cooter Brown’s one night when ESPN announced we lost to Florida that night. The obvious Tulane students (dorky guys and homely girls) all cheered. That was my awakening to how much they don’t like us.
A fond memory of mine is when we used to play each other was seeing kids at tailgates dyeing hotdogs so they could throw them at the Green Weenies.
Finally my wife has cousins in Thibodaux that are Tulane fans. Not one has ever set foot in a college classroom as far as I can tell. Makes no sense.

1973. Tulane played LSU in the Sugar Bowl for the second year in a row. Their fans bought up all the tickets possible for that game early in the distribution process and had at least 80% of the fan support for the game, out of a crowd of nearly 87,000. And this is for a team which averaged only about 20,000 for each of their other home games that year

LSU Tulane 1987…student section…this single fat Yat Tulane guy sat by my girlfriend (later wife) and me. The whole game he would not stop. He was loud and obnoxious. He told me you better make your girlfriend shut up. Now she was 5 feet nothing, 100 pounds and had enough….got up and punched him as hard as she could in the stomach. You should have seen the shocked look on his face! That’s how I knew I had a winner for life (until we divorced lol).

Forgetting the weenies' head coach's name but LSU under Daddy Dale was playing them in their high school - type gym. During practice, as LSU players / coaches were sitting on the bench waiting for the weenies to finish practice, that head coach was walking behind the LSU bench, stopped behind Dale. Patting his head, "look, this is the savior of college basketball". Rick Jones ( he who owe wore a large sock under his uniform's crotch ) was always looking to screw LSU fans when the game was in N.O. When Skip's team was playing in the old Winn Dixie Challenge, the weenies A.D. ( the female who was subsequently fired for "inappropriate acts with a female basketball player ) started bitching to Skip, wanting a bigger share of ticket revenue. While LSU fans were doubling team attendance, Skip told her he'd play a 3 game series in The Box next year. She continued to bitch but Skip ignored her. Sorry, I have 1000's more such stories.

Reading through all these responses makes me realize I was not alone with my experiences growing up.
My dad graduated from LSU in the early 70s. I was born in 1976 and by 1981 was a full-fledge tiger fanatic. I listen to every game on the radio with my dad when it wasn’t on TV.
My grandfather (Dad’s Dad) went to Tulane and all of my uncles were diehard fans and were balls deep in the greenbackers or whatever that lame group was called.
5-year old me was not emotionally equipped to deal with the torment my uncles put me through when LSU would lose a game, much less when they lost to Tulane in 1981.
I have zero problems rooting for Tulane to loose every game.

Glad to do it. I was at that game (junior year at LSU) and while the TV tape conveys the size and ferocity of the brawl, it really doesn't do it justice compared to seeing it in person. I had never seen anything like it before and have never seen it since...
