Hey, I got a 3rd option for ya...I always carry a small soft cooler; when the 6pac is gone & it's time to go in I stash it by squeezing it through one of the holes in the brick lattice at that bldg next to the PMAC, btm of Victory Hill (it's A/C cooling towers inside)- when the game's over (or God forbid you're leaving early) just reach in the hole you stuck it thru and it's right below it safe and waiting. Been doing this for several years...

OH CRAP! Now you bastards know my hiding place and will steal my shite! Nevermind.

The PA system will balance out when people not only show up to the games but stay longer than the 1st quarter.

How does one play piped in music that would satisfy all 92,000 people? It's impossible.

I do wish they would stop with the Callin BR and LA Saturday Night though - but other people love it.

AT&T cell phone service was a little better this week.

If I could use my phone (I have ATT), then I wouldn't need LSU to scroll scores - I could just follow the scores on the ESPN app on my phone.

It's because the Bama band was keeping TGBFTL off the band practice field.

I gotta good gripe...last few yrs I've been sitting in the NEZ (so I can misbehave w/ the kids)'cuz daughters had student tickets; babygirl graduated so we sat on the west side. Around 3rd quarter my nicotine fit drove me in search of a bathroom...(the NEZ has those huge restrooms w/ about 8 stalls on each end,& I'd slip into one and puff away)...every damn bathroom on the West side is TINY, w/ ONE stall, usually occupied, w/ a line. Went up and down the concourse, then tried going down to next level....same tiny one-stall restrooms.

It was stressful enough during my nicotine fit; imagine if I had actually needed to take a CRAP!

I sat in the WU for the first time. Lower bowl peeps, don't feel sorry for them. Better bathrooms, better concessions, and the view was surprisingly good.

Yeah everything about the inside of the stadium in the uppers is more up to date. Also have more room in the uppers. View is better than the lower bowl.

Only big draw back is the atmosphere sucks.

OK...so, what music would you have piped in?

None! Nothing! Pre 2008 we didn't play shite over the PA.
Tigerbrewdaddy if you happen to be involved, please resign and may God have mercy on your soul.

Naming specific songs would be counterintuitive since there should be none. This is Louisiana, between Cajun, Zydeco, and New Orleans brass bands we have great, locally unique music. But since Tiger Stadium now plays songs over the sound system, why the frick we choose the crap and I mean corny fricking music we choose makes us just like EVERY OTHER SPORTING VENUE IN AMERICA.

Band only.

I agree with the band only. Advertise the university if you want to fill in space. At the atm game they may have played 5 other songs total. During timeouts they advertised their other sporting events and achievements and it was much better than some of the crappy music LSU plays. Keep the traditional songs and a few that the majority of the crowd likes and can the rest.

Then it must have come from the south end, because thats where i sit and the sound always comes from behind me.

The reason why every single venue across the world plays up-tempo up to date music is to keep a majority of the fans into it (hyped up) through the course of the games. Especially with all the time outs, injury time outs, media time out, bitch fests by opposing coaches, the whole deal a game takes damn forever now.

Every song won't please every single person, but to lean over to your ole lady and murmur, "babe I don't care for this song." Every song that comes on is stupid, the world doesn't revolve around you, princess.

I've made a point to try to notice other schools' jumbotrons on TV lately.

Remarkably, NO OTHER SCHOOL seems to do what we do with our jumbotrons (i.e., devote 60% of it to static advertising).

Why is that if it's so "necessary" for us?

"I do wish they would stop with the Callin BR and LA Saturday Night though - but other people love it."

I would be more than happy to hear a lot less of the piped in music, but at least these two songs have some connection to the state. Most of the other songs they play - whether you like them or not - are just generic stadium rock that you could hear virtually anywhere. Those are the ones I deplore the most ("we will rock you," etc.). We have a unique collegiate environment and I hope we don't water it down with goofy stuff that fits, if at all, in an NBA arena.

By the way, count me as one who was really surprised by "Calling Baton Rouge" becoming a "thing." The song is about a guy calling a girl who just happens to live there. But it does get the crowd fired up and if I'm not mistaken is played when the band is getting set up for pregame, so it's not taking away from the band (correct?)

How many of those schools have an Athletic Department that is completely financially independent?

Yep.

Besides mentioning the name "Baton Rouge", Callin Baton Rouge has ZERO connection to the state. It sucks.

That song could just as well be about Pierre, South Dakota. At least "Louisiana Saturday Night" somewhat portrays a little bit of Louisiana culture.
