Flying in for game and tailgate

Hi All,
6 of us are flying in on Friday for the game, and can not wait to experience our first LSU tailgate and game. Any suggestions for tailgating for out of towners, who are foodies and would love to enjoy the local cuisine? We will have a car, but not equipment to cook our own.
We would love any recommendations for where to tailgate, and any tips to have the best time. Thanks!

Don't expect much. Your typical "LSU experience" will not be available. Big shopping day. Students out of school. Team is not good. Last week, versus Vanderbilt, tailgating was off about 50%, per my estimate. Enjoy yourself, but don't expect much.

I think that is mostly true but I do think that the uniqueness of Oklahoma will make it a little better than the Vandy game for the typical tailgaters. The student section may be a bit sparse, though.

Why would you ever come to this dump of a town?

Are you flying into Baton Rouge or New Orleans? Are you just looking for Saturday recs or Friday as well? If you are arriving to campus / Baton Rouge on Saturday what is your expected arrival time?

Ignore all the whiney bitches in here. You will have a good time. It won't be Bama game big, but it is still a fun atmosphere. Expect to get tiger baited, but most fans will be nice to you.
Eat some good food, drink some bourbon, and enjoy campus.
You can walk off campus and eat at a lot of restaurants at the north gate.

ignore the negative comments. they are miserable idiots who hate themselves.
I recommend Jubans the night before the game. Get the Hallelujah crab and some oysters.

Flying into New Orleans on Friday, but arriving and staying in Baton Rouge around 4:00PM until Monday morning. We would love recommendations for Saturday, but are open to anything you would recommend for the rest of the weekend as well. Thanks!

Anyone have the link for the thread on Gameday devs? I’ve been searching for it to send to someone coming in this weekend and can’t find it

Why would you ever come to this dump of a town?
All those years while living in Mandeville, I hated driving into The Dump for an LSU game, but had no choice. I tried to take a different route each time to lessen the SOS of going West on I-12 all the time. (190 to Denham Springs then I-12 into the Dump. Across the Causeway to Metry, then I-10 West into The Dump, etc......)

my unofficial visitors guide to attending an LSU game
Where is your hotel/Airbnb? If you are driving, the city is your oyster and you can drive to any of the places mentioned in the post. Get some gumbo. It is the perfect meal for this weather. Friday and Saturday will be no higher than 60 and no lower than 38. Rain is coming Thursday night ans will make those cold temps feel annoyingly colder than the temperature reads. Jeans and a jacket/vest will be enough.
Consider getting to campus before 11am. It'll be busy. We got to campus around 11:30am for Vanderbilt and the crowd size was large, but I think the fact that it was a 6:45pm game helped slow parking down. We were also feeling pretty pissed/apathetic considering we lost 3 in a row, but since we haven't played Oklahoma since 2019, it'll likely bring a sizable crowd.
When on campus, I've had all my friends from RI/FL that visit wear their school gear and they eventually purchase something from the bookstore or LSU Sports Shop. There is also Bengals and Bandits at the entrance of campus with some cool stuff. My point though is that if you show that you're not from here, there will be people who will likely reach out to you as you walk past their tailgate and invite you for a bite to eat. Not saying it's guaranteed, but people down here really like being hospitable towards first timers.
