So they forfeit and we win right?

no

Can someone explain to me why this wouldn’t be a forfeit? They were scheduled to play a game at a particular date/time and their team doesn’t look like they are healthy enough to play (or at least the players they want to play) so they won’t show up at the designated date/time/place....that is a forfeit IMO.

Oh you mean the team whose head coach was pushing for full attendance for Saturday’s game had massive outbreaks of covid throughout his team? Color me shocked.

This isn’t difficult

All teams agreed the covid rules. It isn’t a forfeit, they postpone the game

Thanks. I figured there might be some special COVID rules (whatever that is).

But that begs the question....what are these rules? Specially what happens if a team isn’t healthy enough to play more than one game? How would that play out since there is only one make-up game date? At what point does a team not having a healthy enough team turn into a forfeit or whatever term they want to use ?

For COVID, basically never. The games are declared no contest, or rescheduled by the SEC commissioner.

There will end up being an extra week to the regular season and most teams wont have a planned bye week. The games wont all get played unless the former happens

A source told The Athletic the Gators have 29 players sidelined — 19 who tested positive, and another 10 who face mandatory quarantines based upon being exposed. Most of the impacted players are on scholarship.

I love college football, it’s by far my favorite sport, but this is why I was kind of ok with not having a season this year. Having a season where there are no fans/tailgating, players opting out, weird schedules, games moved and canceled, teams playing without 10-20 players at a time. The whole thing is just a damn mess.

Usually lurk and never post. Hopefully I've got this formatted right for your forum software.

But that begs the question....what are these rules?

LINK

quote:

To play a football game, the SEC has established minimum thresholds of at least 53 scholarship players available to participate and the following minimum number of position scholarship players available to begin a game: seven (7) offensive linemen (which includes one center), one (1) quarterback and four (4) defensive linemen. The impacted institution has the option to play the game with fewer than the 53 scholarship players or fewer than the minimum number of position players listed above if it elects to do so. Otherwise, upon approval by the Commissioner, the game would be rescheduled or declared a no contest.

You don't have this right. Mizzou and others *CHOSE* to play. Per the rules posted above your post, the impacted institution can choose to play with fewer than the minimum players as outlined, but otherwise the contest can be rescheduled or declared a no-contest.

you all down south ignored the mask wearing and now its karma time ...Big 10 will finish it season and SEC will probably get its season halted bc the southerners didnt believe the hype ... CFP will be Ohio St ,Notre Dame, Akron ,and Kent State .

You might want to look at your case count again. Ohio seems to be rising.
