There is a whole world of difference between getting upset and yelling at a kid now and constant verbal abuse. There’s a lot of in between too.

No one knows where Sully was on that spectrum. If it’s a few isolated instances, then maybe the spoiled kid narrative most everyone on here seems to assume works.

But constant verbal abuse over a sustained period of time can ruin a child. It starts a cycle that passes down to that child’s kid. If believing that verbal abuse can rise to a level such as to destroy a kid’s psyche makes me woke, then I guess I am woke.

The original post appears to choose the word “fuss” to paint a picture of a dad just fussing at his kid now and then and making the kid sound soft. Fussing at a kid now and then is a hell of a lot different than multiple episodes of screaming and cursing at a kid that results in the authorities being called multiple times. I think a dad who constantly yells and curses at his kid is the soft one.
