Before anyone pushes th epanic button after Saturday's loss it would be interesting to compare Saban and Coach O afer three season:

Coach O

2017
9–4 6–2
2018
10–3 5–3
2019
15–0 8–0

34-7 19-5

Saban

2007
7–6 4-4
2008
12–2 8–0
2009
14-0 8-0

33-8 20-4

Then came year four

Saban was 10-3 5-3

Then the Saban recruiting train began rolling and reloading. Orgeronmay be at a simillar stage and ther may be a slight step back this year before LSU is once again at the top. For the record I did not include his interim coaching year in 2016.

I'm sorry, but I just no longer compare LSU or our coaches to Saban. He's old LSU news and I as a fan have moved on.

Don’t compare Saban to Orgeron. It’s not fair to O honestly. Saban is the best

This was not a complete rebuild like it was for him. It’s a more fair comparison to miles then to Saban. And all those Miles fans would bring up is how great of a record he had and yet stick their freaking heads in the ground and ignore the shite that was his coaching ability.

Compare Saban’s first three years at LSU, not Alabama. The cupboard wasn’t bare here when he came in 2000, much like it wasn’t for Ed either.

it was bare. you just have bad memory. horrible oline and dline talent and no qbs worth talking about. football is won in the trenches and qb is the most important position in all of sports. yeah, the cupboard was pretty bad.

It was only bad because like 8 linemen left the team.

Did they leave early for the NFL?
If so, are they still in the league

Wow. You are out of your mind. Just go look at the players in the NFL as a comparison from 1996, 1997,1998, 1999 classes that stayed until 2000.

another revisionist. Go do your research and look at the number of o and d line defections (including a second team SEC) when they fired miles and get back to me. You are fricking out of your mind.

If O wants to come close to matching Saban numbers he will have to continue to recruit well AND begin to convince our better players to hang around for another year (or two nowadays).

Agreed, we need to just worry about ourselves. Will O be more successful than the best college coach ever, probably not but he just took us to the promise land last year and I think he can get us back there. That's all that matters IMO.

O deserves the benefit of the doubt. I always thought the Pelini hire was weird but whatever.
