We have heard from teammates about Nuss’ actions on and off the field as far as leadership goes. Also, Brad Davis told Nuss not to play in the bowl game last season and to save his redshirt.
So what exactly are you saying? You’re saying the person who starts the season isn’t going to be the starter at the end of year right? So you’re essentially saying that the loser of the qb competition is going to take over the starting job from the winner of the qb competition. I don’t see that happening. I think the guy Denbrock and Sloan pick is going to be our guy all year

My concern is that all of our QBs have glaring flaws and development takes time. That’s why I don’t expect someone to really grab hold of this job until mid season.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I know Kelly has rotated QBs when he didn’t have an experienced starter and leader and did so just last year at ND. I know we don’t have an established PROVEN leader or QB here. It could be that whoever is named the starter does enough to hang onto the job for the entire year, but I just don’t see the odds or any evidence supporting that.
I do believe in this staff and that’s why I think someone will develop and take control of the job by the bye week. It may even be whoever they choose out of the gate. I just don’t see how we don’t have some rotation at QB this year.

I have a lot of faith in our coaches as well. I think we’re 4-0 headed into the Auburn game at Jordan-Hare, and that game will be a great barometer and tell us a lot about our team.

All indications right now point to him being the starter.
Can you go into further detail about all of these indications?

I think he starts and we beat Florida State and after that happens then it's going to be hard to pull him from the game and bench him for Daniels.
What if he goes 11-27 for 179 yards and we win 17-14? Do you still think it will be hard for coaches to pull him after that?
quote:
you can tell by the way the players talk about him and rally around him
As great as this is, it still doesn’t mean he is a great football player.
I would love it if Nuss starts but you saying he’s basically got the job locked up is asinine

I don't think I've ever been less invested in a QB battle. it's so muddled that I truly have no favorite, and no expectation, one way or the other. I have no feel for how this year will go. Whether I've been right or wrong about an LSU team in the past, I've always felt strongly about what I expected. This is totally different.

Yes, I believe as of now Nuss is qb1 because CBK made it a point to say that he would’ve gotten the first team reps today if he hadn’t injured his ankle. There are also a few trustworthy people who make a living covering LSU sports - Brody Miller and Jacques Doucet. They have both came out and said that this is a 2 way race between Nuss and Daniels and it’s looking like Nuss is the starter as of now

I think it all depends on how he actually looks and plays in the game. If he’s commanding the offense and showing that he knows what he’s doing but we have trouble in the red zone and he goes 11 for 27, I don’t think the coaches bench him after 1 game. Again, that would all depend on how he looks on the field with live bullets flying

I never said that made him a great football player, I was responding to misey94’s comment when he said that none of our qb’s have great leadership or intangibles

Probably because this competition is totally different, it will probably last past the start of the season.

Maybe MB only needed 3 reps to show the Coaches hes better than JD?

No he said Nuss would have gotten first team reps, which makes sense because he is currently in a position battle for the QB1 spot.

Show me where they both said it looks like Nuss is the starter as of now.

Hell I don’t even think it has to be after game 1, it might be during it. If it’s a 3 point game in the 4th quarter and the offense can’t score a touchdown with Nuss on the field I could easily see them putting Daniels in and vice versa.

Will happen this year most likely, people need to get used to the idea.
They're all going to play and lots of angry, crying people will flood the rant.

I’ve know Brennan for a long time and I’m a fan of his, but whomever wins the job will get my support

Some of ya’ll act like 7 practices in this is a done deal. They honestly could push this decision another 2 weeks.

It was in his opening press conference. Go see it lazy man.

Predicting the outcome isn't the same as picking a favorite. Most people are forecasting the outcome but want the best player to run the offense.
I have been predicting Nuss but I don't care if someone else wins the job. Hell, that just means we are way better at QB than anyone thought/observed. Not the same bro.

Totally agree. Nice to see many of LSU’s fan base “maturing”, me included. LOL
