Paul does not have his guys ready to play night in and night out. It's as simple as that. The mid week losses fall on HIM and only HIM!
It looked like we were sleep walking out there last night and it's embarrassing.

while I feel like you're being way too emotional about this deal, this does remind me of one of the early Manieri years when we finished around .500 in the SEC, typically good enough for us to make a regional, but missed it because of an awful midweek schedule.

Bad team, bad coaching staff. But don't worry, the pumpers will be in here before long time to say how this loss isn't a big deal.
Where were you guys over the weekend when they were beating Vandy. I was there pumping up this team and even tho they lost last night I am still here thinking they are a good yet flawed team. I don't think they are NC caliber but I also don't think they are horrible. I do think they are laying down a solid foundation to build on for the next couple of years and hope they make a run once they get into postseason play. The weekend starters give you a shot in every game.

Maybe, just maybe, this guy is on to something here.

When you replace almost everyone in the field it's going to happen.
What's really funny is how we as fans give the baseball team a pass for being young and inexperienced, but not the other sports...

this team really does have potential
handling vandy the way they did shows signs of it
to me, the midweek preparation just hasn't been there with this proof...I'm not exactly sure why the focus hasn't been there, but it's obvious they aren't taking these games as seriously as some of the others

Perspective:
- LSU has won two SEC series in a row;
- They just took two of three from the #2 team in the nation; and
- They pitched a pitcher as the starter that is coming off of injury and that has never pitched in college before (resulting in a 3 run deficit right out of the gate).
This team is not as good as some in years past, but they are getting better and will continue to improve.
Chill

There's no doubt about it, but the lineup and bench are filled with players that have very little experience at this level of competition. It's why you're going to see them play well against the top teams and then look like they're lost against the weaker teams.

Actually we lost 2 of 3 to Tennessee that year.
Excuse me, we got swept by UT in 2008, regardless that doesn't change my point. shite happens

definitely makes sense that experience is a factor, but still shocking they'd unload on a top team and not a lower team...you'd think they'd be teeing off against them.

I think we're pretty good. Maybe Lamar, Tulane and McNeese aren't horrible teams (they aren't).

you either haven't been following lsu since the 90s or you are an overreactionist

It's easy to get up when playing a team like Vandy. Losing focus against teams you know you're more talented than is what happens to inexperienced players.

I honestly expected this team to host a regional and get to a SR on the backs of the staff. I had a feeling the lineup was going to be unreliable. I didn't expect them to be very competitive in the SR though, so I felt Omaha was out of the question.
Given that the staff has been underwhelming, to put it kindly, it's not a surprise this team is fighting for .500 in conference and to even make a regional.

We just beat Vandy in a series. It's a young team that will learn a lot through the season so relax people.

Dropping midweek games during the course of a season is definitely not a "crazy" occurrence. Even the championship level teams lost some of these games.
