So you believe "most coaches are fired in major conferences" after those coaches consistently get their teams into the NCAA post season tournament? I'd really like to see those stats. Do you have a link supporting your claim?

Well actually, thanks for pointing that out. I did misread the initial post.

The broader point still remains: when you fail to make it out of your own regional, with all of the resources LSU puts into softball, Torina isn’t meeting the moment.

I’ve asked two posters who are defending her to layout a thoughtful, reason-based assessment why she should be retained, and they cannot. One provided the ole, “we’ll be better next year” and the other provided some appeal to his/her own alleged authority, but then only went on the attack against others and would not/could not provide specifics.

I think Torina should be let go. But I’m open to hearing specifically why she should be retained. If someone can provide a cogent set of reasons why, I really want to hear it.

Thanks.

I've been told by a BOD that I'm the only one that complains about softball.

To be clear, I'm not advocating for her to be retained.

My point was and is would a proven winning coach have reservations about joining LSU if he/she sees that going to a regional every year can still get them fired?

It depends on the coach, but to frame it as she makes regionals every year and was fired (hypothetically of course) ignores quite a bit of relevant context.

Poor LSU fans….. it’s a championship or bust with every team on campus..

No it’s about being competitive and putting a good product on the field.

Edit: had to add, a coach that motivate their players.

Yes, because they would understand that LSU will give them the resources to make the World Series at least once every 3 to 4 years.

We don't want a "scared to be fired" coach because that kind of coach will probably only get you to regionals.

Bottom line, if Scott would have just let her go to Auburn a few years back, we would still be playing and Auburn would have lost last night.

Instead, he gives her a raise and now she knows she set for at least a few more years. I can't believe she is coaching a travel team as a Div. 1 head coach. That shows that she is not determined to get better.

I guarantee other div 1 coaches are doing a lot more for their college teams to make them better in the off season, instead of traveling around with 10 U or 12 U teams.

I just watched the press conference and I'll confidently say this: anyone hoping she's fired is delusional. Beth looked like it was just another day

Her point was noted losing most of last year's team, but is the 2025 class that good anyway? I know the hype is around the 2026 class. Also I wonder how much longer she can sell a bill of goods to transfers. It's going to be an interesting off-season for Torina, but I have no expectations.

We will have a mass exit of players if she’s retained.

Mass exodus? Where will they go and start?

The only one that can transfer and start would be Tori. We need to keep her and tell Bergeron to leave the walks to the singles hitters. We sure do have enough of them.

Since they took down my topic.

Here is a reason to fire BT without having to pay her.

She let her assistant coach Lindsey Leftwich sleep with and have relationship with then a current player.

Juat look into the relationship between Ali Newland and Lindsey Leftwich

Any winning coach worth his or her salt would say “Just making a regional every year isn’t doing shite.”
