Just for discussion. I’m not implying Finley transferred due to Brennan being the leader. I would think the coaches would definitely lean to start Brennan day 1 now all else equal though(if they already weren’t).If you start Max you immediately lose Brennan and depth goes from great to zero experience fast. Thoughts?

Max > Brennan is my bet. He won the job at the end of the year. Plus he has more upside.

I'm still thinking Max gets the nod then hope Brennan doesn't transfer...

If it’s truly a tie, Max gets it due to his mobility. The offense ran well with Myles until they got to the Redzone

The offense is way more dynamic with Max behind center. Plus, he can help mask the deficiencies of the offensive line with his mobility

I still think Brennan is our starter in the Fall, but this actually would make more sense if you meant to say Max Johnson in the OP.

Had Max Johnson won the job, Finley could be thinking he'll never start considering they're the same year. Brennan winning the job means Finley still had a shot next season (or whenever Brennan leaves).

He has more mobility, sure.

But he can't make a bunch of throws Brennan can make in his sleep. Different tiers of arm strength.

Finley is leaving because he was beat out by Johnson. If he was second to Brennan he would surely have stayed to be the starter in 2022.

The debate between Myles and Max has to do with the OL play.

If the OL is solid, Myles will get the nod. He is a better passer. If the OL is just okay then Max should get the nod. His mobility will help a ton.

The think Finley transferred mostly because he knew he was 4th on the depth chart behind Max, Brennan and Nuss.

Brennan is outta there if Max gets the nod and I can’t blame him.

Last season they ran Linehan's redzone offense. This year it's back to Brady's offense. Myles will be the starter. Max the backup, and Nuss redshirts. Next season its a free for all for the starting QB, Max, Nuss, and Howard will battle it out.

If MB isn't the starter he will transfer and no one should blame him. However, if that does happen our deep QB room becomes super thin FAST.

Only need to hope Finley/Johnson doesn’t end up like Fields/Fromm

IMO, All this means is that TJ knows he is 3rd or probably 4th in line to start. That's a long way and a lot of "what if's" to get on the field.

It doesn't mean Max or Myles will start, only that TJ has a tough road to hoe in order to get there.

Wish him luck.

Its a pretty safe assumption that it wont. Nothing against TJ, But Max/Nuss/Howard are all closer to Fields than TJ is.
