Finding LSU’s next football coach… in Kingsbury?

Note: I write the below assuming Miles will depart LSU in some fashion at the end of this season if not the next.
In the upcoming search for LSU’s new fb coach, I think the focus should be on coaches of the near future, not old timers or coaches well placed in programs similarly situated to LSU’s (e.g. Clemson) who, apart from money, will have no incentive to come to LSU.
As most of us would agree, LSU got it right when it hired Nick Saban, not totally unknown at the time, but hardly a household name back in ’99, his last season at Michigan state, where he was the HC for five years. Was landing Saban luck or a highly calculated hire, or both? I would say a little bit of the former and most of the latter.
Look at Saban’s record at Michigan State (and before going to LSU):
1995, 6-5-1
1996, 6-6
1997, 7-5
1998, 6-6
1999, 9-2
The first three years show gradual, if modest, progression. Then look at year 4, a setback…then bam. He suddenly pops on the radar and LSU grabs him!
Who is the next early “pop on the radar?”
I’m not sure, but I’m wondering if it could be Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech.
A little bit on Kingsbury:
He played QB for Texas Tech, followed by five years of QB around the NFL and Canadian football leagues, which was then followed by 4 years of coaching in the NFL and one year at college (Texas Tech). He replaced Tuberville at Texas Tech in 2013 (note; Tuberville, a seasoned and known coaching commodity, in his three years at Texas Tech compiled at 20-17 (9-17 conf) record). Kingsbury’s record is as follows:
2013 8-5
2014 4-8*
2015 6-6
*team suffered a rash of injuries
So, so far he is 18-18 (9-17 conf). Last game of the season is against Texas on Thanksgiving day; a Red Raiders win and Kingsbury is at 19 wins (in 3 seasons).
Now, compared with Saban’s first three years of 19-16-1 there is hardly a difference.
Anyway, I think Kingsbury should be given a look.

Big-12 offenses don't work in the SEC, see A&M

He played at Tech and loves Tech. Besides that being the reason he wouldn't leave Tech, why the frick would we want Kingsbury?
He can coach offense, that much is true. However, have you seen Tech's defense?
Kingsbury would be a god-awful hire

I think even my TTU alum brother in law, who has become a big LSU fan, would consider that a bad move.

Kingsbury is a fricking joke
not to mention he already makes 3mil a year. so you'd have to increase his salary from that which is laughable

Just to add...
Saban fond LSU....he had his agent contact LSU not the other way around (at least that's how the story has been told)

So, he's regressed. No, sorry you wasted all your time.

Kingsbury would literally be one of the worst hires we could make.

It would be a miserable hire for LSU.

Dude if you think we are complaining about defense now. Natives want a name.

Ok, I've looked. Worst of the last 3 HCs at Texas Tech.

An offense that can beat 'Bama is just fine with me. See Tex A&M 2012.
Would concede that Kingsbury would need to hire a top DC and be willing to let the latter do his thing.

Oh okay, so his offense beat Bama one time? Fantastic.

The Red Raiders made their first Associated Press Top 25 debut in the Kingsbury era following a win over TCU on September 12, 2013.[19] It was the earliest a first year coach at Texas Tech achieved a spot in the rankings. Kingsbury also became the first coach in Texas Tech history to start the season 6-0 in their debut season after the Red Raiders defeated Iowa State on October 12, 2013. Following a victory against West Virginia on October 19, 2013, Kingsbury led the Red Raiders to a 7-0 start for only the fourth time in program history. The 10th-place ranking the team received in the BCS also marked the highest the program had been ranked since the 2008 season. With the win over West Virginia, Kliff Kingsbury is the first Big 12 coach to start his career 7-0.[2] The Texas Tech Red Raiders finished Kliff Kingsbury's first year at Texas Tech by losing the last 5 games of the season, finishing the rookie coach's first regular season at 7-5. Tight end Jace Amaro was also named as a Consensus All-American, the first Red Raider to be selected as such since Michael Crabtree in 2008.[20]

Id take Leach over Cliff anyday. He wins

Fantastic. 6-5 on the season, 3-5 in the BIg12.
What a glorious hire that'd be. Don't worry guys, when he was the OC at aTm, they beat Bama once.

Your opinion cannot be taken to be in the best interest of LSU, as you are a self-professed Gator fan.
