He plays like a young Parsons. Extremely athletic that can play both the jack and will. Sideline to sideline speed with also the ability bend around the edge and get to qb. I think his frame will be more of a backer then parsons but they’re close.

You compared him to someone that is literally 1/1. I like Perkins, but that’s a lofty comparison for a rotational freshman through 4 games.

Man last year's recruiting class has probably already overtook some of our other recruiting classes as far as players. i want to say thats a good thing but then it really says how bad our recent classes really were.

Noah Cain came out and said Perk reminded him of Parsons as well, who Cain played with at penn st.

Tigerbair- talking like he sees a comparison when Noah Cain literally just said it.

Not really. Leads the teams in tackles and always looks like the best player on the field.

While Parsons is a lofty comparison, it’s fair at this point. Perkins is kind of a unicorn. Very few people have the frame and skill set to play both the Jack and Will like he can. And I’m sure he’d be a dominant Mike if needed. Devin White, great as he was, couldn’t have played the Jack.

I was wrong about Perkins (and happy to have been). I don’t follow recruiting too heavily—nothing against those who do, there’s just too many de-commitments for me to get emotionally invested in it. But I appreciate those who do and check the recruiting board every so often to keep up with the current goings on. But I rarely watch video and usually only know recruits rankings and height/weight/40.

Anyway, just going by that, I could see he was a physical freak, but dismissed any notion of him getting legit playing time this year, especially so early. LB is not an easy position to transition from high school to college. Especially for the freaks, who are allowed to basically just rely on their athleticism in high school to make plays. College LBs have to play within a much more complicated system, and with most teams’ base D being some form of nickel, a lot of LBs are asked to drop back in coverage for the 1st time in their lives and that typically takes time. The fact that he’s so coachable that they trust him to not just play this much this early as true FR, but to play 2 LB positions that are so completely different from each other is truly incredible and says maybe as much about his intelligence and character as it does his athleticism. Incredibly impressive kid.
