what do you think Woodard's expectations are?
This contract would suggest they're quite high.
I'm discussing this more from a philosophical standpoint. This happens across sports.

You mean like those crowing all season about O and LSU being the new big bad mofo on the block in the SEC and O creating a new dynasty now saying oh well obviously we can’t be expected to do this every year. He’s going to need some time before we can compete for championships again.
if this was in reference to my "expectations", I'm going to need you to link some of my posts saying "LSU being the new big bad mofo on the block in the SEC and O creating a new dynasty"
I'll wait

so if Woodard has high expectations and you say O should be paid based off expectations...
I don't know what your issue is anymore

Where else is he going to go? I’m not saying there isn’t another team out there that would take him. I’m sure there is. But which one would he be willing to go to? Which one would pay him anywhere close to 5 million/year?
That’s not how this works
LSU wants him. He wants to be at LSU. Everything he has done backs that up. He deserves the money he gets.
And I can’t believe people are still saying there wouldn’t be teams that would hire him
LSU pays well, and is one of the 5 best jobs in America. There aren’t many programs that can poach a coach from a school like LSU. So just because that will never happen does not mean Orgeron isn’t a desirable head coach. Because it won’t happen.

No otherSEC team would hire him. I’m sorry if that hurts peoples feelings here but it’s the truth right now. The perception within the SEC is still that he caught lightning in a bottle.
Lol you’re a dumbfrick as usual. I don’t know how people like you get by in life. Just so damn ignorant

Say what you want, but O handled everything about this job, including his salary, like a genius. Lower pay for himself initially to get coordinators and vowed to prove himself. And, he did it. Geaux Coach O and Tigers!

No coach wins the championship every year. I have absolutely no idea why you're melting down again.

Then its confusing. I've lost sight of the point you're trying to make

Oh not talking about you at all. I have no idea what your previous post history is unlike the stalkers on this board
But we all know those posts were out there, all we all know the majority of them will excuse away any loss or down season we happen to have going forward

Well deserved, congrats coach!

My issue was never with Orgeron's contract.
My issue is the logic that a new contract can't be bad if a coach/player outperformed his previous one. This conversation started because I addressed a post that said "how is it an overpay when the guy just got us a championship?" That's dangerous logic.

well yeah that is dumb logic
with that logic they would have to support O making 30 mil per year

Obviously he deserved a good raise.
But I have to be a little contrarian here. Orgeron was hired to have a head coach making a smaller salary so that the coordinators could be paid top notch. And that obviously worked well. Will we still do that?
Sure, it got floated around a lot. But the reality was, from LSU's perspective, O wasn't high in demand, and LSU offered him a lot more than anyone else did.
From Orgeron's perspective, he took a lower salary (considering where he is coaching), in order to get a chance. He wasn't getting that otherwise.
He got his chance, and ran with it. 3 seasons, 40-9, national champs... and now let's talk.
I respect that, he did what he had to do to get back on the sideline, and at a bigtime program. He now has the leverage.

I guess the point boils down to past performance is no guarantee of future results.
