Feaster interview on "Off the Bench"

David Feaster Interview
They actually bumped Feldman this morning to extend Feaster's interview. He talked about a myriad of things including the Harris transfer, why Bama isn't allowed on Parkway's campus, select/non-select split.
I know Culotta has been a little critical of Feaster in the past, especially around the select/non-select debate. I think this is the first time he's had a chance to interview him, and I think Culotta left the interview with a different perspective of Feaster maybe?? I could be reading into it too much.
Definitely was an interesting interview if nothing else.
Some points about Harris:
Feaster was a little irritated about the Dellinger article - said RD dug up old interviews since he wasn't commenting on the transfer - he said there was "no storyline" about BH transferring. Said he would never tell a kid to transfer or not go to LSU. BH made the decision to go to LSU on his own after visiting various other programs. BH made his decision to leave LSU on his own. Said his personal beef wasn't with LSU (apparently he's from Mamou, and a huge LSU fan) - but rather with Miles/Cameron.
Some interesting information about Bama and some of their unethical recruiting tactics that he didn't agree with:
Abbreviated version - (you gotta remember BH was the hottest recruit going) Basically in the Spring Nick Saban himself made a committable offer/Scholarship offer to Brandon through backline channels, lured him in to camp. Apparently he was ambushed with a QB competition, and came back without a committable offer. He didn't like the fact that Brandon went Bama under the guise of a "committable" offer that wasn't in fact a committable offer after all. BH found out on the internet he wasn't getting the scholarship.
So Feaster's problem with Bama now is that he doesn't want them doing that to any of his other recruits.
I know it's a long post, just wanted to share.

Thanks for sharing. That was worth the read.

Feaster has a problem with Nick Saban, Les Miles, Cam Cameron and who knows who else?
Yes, I am going to go with Coach Feaster over these no-names who clearly know nothing about coaching....

As much as recruits have forgotten the definition of "commitment", college coaches play around WAY too much with 17 year old kids with the "committable" offer. What Bama did to BH6 happens WAY too often and the NCAA should do something about it.

It was a bush league move when the NOLA coaches were supposedly trying to do this to LSU and it's still a bush league move when this guy is trying to do it to Alabama.
This sort of thing happens all the time at every program

Harris soon went camping at Alabama but the coaching staff didn’t warm to him during his Tuscaloosa visit. When Harris returned home, he found out via the Internet that Alabama had accepted a commitment from quarterback prospect David Cornwell. Harris’ Alabama offer was no longer valid.

It's funny that he has a problem with Les and Cam, considering they rode BH to their coaching graves.

....or they just did a lousy job of coaching him . ( among others)

If I were the parents of this high school I would move quickly to terminate this coach. He's limiting their kids' oppotunities.
Harris didn't commit fast enough...6 months or so...so they moved on. He still had another 8 months to find a different school.
Turns out, Alabama was right about Harris actually.

If the kid can get an offer from Bama, they will have plenty of chances to play major college ball. He said the kids can visit wherever they want. Bama coaches aren't allowed on his campus. He isn't stopping the coaches from recruiting the kid, only setting foot on campus.

There is a problem in responsibility delegation when a high school football coach can determine who can visit the school and who can't.
Shouldn't that decision be made by an administrator, board, etc.?

I'm just laughing at this mess.

You think a high school principal is up to date on college football recruiting practices? The high school principals have already caused irreparable damage to the LHSAA playoffs, now you want them involved in the college recruiting process? No thanks.

Not necessarily a principal, but it seems stupid to let a coach determine who can and can't "visit" a campus.
All said though, frick bama.

Re the definition of commitment", have you forgotten what Phillpe Franks did to LSU in his recruiting? Got a promise from CLM/Cam not to recruit another QB & then committed to Fla too late in the process for LSU to get a legit chance at another QB. Recruiting is ugly all the way around.

Not when most of the recruiters go there to talk to the head coach to discuss said recruit.

Well, Feaster has been fired so there's that.
