Vernel Singleton for bball
Lot of football guys but will go with Kyle Williams since he was a 5th round pick and meets the definition of role player.

For ONE game, I would choose Matt Mauck, SEC championship game against Tenn. Came off the bench for an injured Rohan Davey and won the championship game. Was named MVP.

Baker quietly had a really productive 2010 season, one of the best by an OLB in recent years. and I'm pretty sure that was the year he started off with a broken jaw.
I believe it was. It seemed like he was everywhere on the field in the Bama game that year. That delayed blitz to cram the QB (was it McElroy?) in that game was a work of art.

John David Moore could top list one day.
Sammy Martin.
Justin Vincent as a freshman coming through in SEC and National championships

He was my first, favorite player for LSU. That dude could fly. He probably would have been a star in today's game.

guys beat me to my top two Trindon and Ron Brooks
Really enjoyed these two guys but my number 1 would be Sammy Martin(Mid to late 80's). Oustanding speed; played tailback, flanker, wide-out and returned kicks. Wound up playing in the NFL due to his speed and versatility. Member of the '86 and '88 SEC champs.

For me, it has to be Ryan Baker.
I would not consider a guy who started every game that year (I think) to be a role player.

Jonathan Zenon. Will never forgot his interception against Tennessee in the SEC championship game to put us back ahead
Again, like Ryan Baker, Zenon was a full time starter not a role player.
He may well ahve been an underrated player at LSU, but he was a starter not a role player.
Ron Brooks as many have pointed out is the correct answer here.

Sammy's catch on that 4th down against Tulane in 1986 was money.

Recently I liked what T Bob Hebert could do. Every time a starter went down he jumped in there and played whatever position was asked of him and did it well.

Always thought Vernel could have done more if he had a coach who could actually develop players. He had all the skills and the dude could outjump just about anybody.
I was also a fan of Russell Grant. Overall, not a great basketball player, but was deadly with those three pointers especially from the corner.

My reasoning for that is that he was not much talked about. His role was very specific (run support, was never asked to cover much, unlike Sheppard at MLB), and he excelled at it. He never did much in any other facet of the game, and was overshadowed by a large margin by guys that were winning national awards in the secondary. Nobody talked about a one-dimensional linebacker as a game-breaker, regardless of starting status.
I do think Ron Brooks fits the criteria more so than Baker (

These guys were starters. Not really role players.
