It does not...
nor does it make THEM less of a fan for leaving.
some of them only have baby sitting services UP TO A CERTAIN time, if they leave with the traffic, they will never make it...
and whatever other reasons
and please don't give me the crap of THEY SHOULD STAY HOME.
I did not realize there were so many control freaks

I still say your ticket is scanned on the way into the stadium, and your ticket will be scanned on the way out of the stadium. At the end of the year if you don't have enough quarters attended you get your tickets stripped. I like!

You're very young if you were "in shock" over such b/s

Because you don't pay $1,500 for 2 seats year in/year out. That's why.
Yeah, but its sad that the people that can afford these tickets don't use them to their full potential.
I went to the game, and had four friends leave at halftime. I don't see the point of going through all the trouble of getting tickets, going to campus, waiting in lines to get in the stadium, to only sit there for an hour an a half and leave. Thats just me though.

I am with you....
I do not see it either, I just do not think is my position to judge them.

Well I have the work schedule but really don't have the money to just throw away - but I do anyway.

Believe me, if I could attend every game, I would. I've never left a game until the final whistle sounded.
And if you did attend every game for at least ten years consecutively, you would eventually get to the point of leaving early during ULL, Tulane, etc.
Look, I didn't leave and I'm not defending the 5% that did leave.
But if you purchased season tickets you would most likely start leaving games early if they were duds and the whole "newness" of being a season ticket holder wore off after so long.
People like you purchase individual game tickets and you value the hell out of your purchase because you spent money on those tickets that week, so it's fresh on your bank account. However, if you dropped down the money for the entire season at a time and started going to games week in/week out, you would get to the point of wanting to leave the game in a blowout because the damage had been done to your bank account in the summertime. It's easy for you to say you wouldn't because you want to savor something you don't always do.
ETA: It's easy to sit on your couch and watch with the heater on and bitch about the people that are out there. It's also easy to sit back and say, "oh yeah I would pay that" because the simple fact is you don't.

definitely not watching at walkons. i was at walkons for the LA Tech game and it was on every TV but absolutely NO ONE was watching the game. NO ONE watched even the opening kick off!
I know because i was checking it out and was amazed.

If someone couldn't afford tickets to the game yesterday then they can't afford a computer to be on td. Tickets were dirt cheap yesterday. You can't call out other peoples effort when you gave 0% at least they were there for some time.

Many Tiger fans take pride in being the most intimidating stadium in the country. Well that's not the case anymore. Yesterday, I was sitting on the West side, up near the press box on about the 40 yard line. There was actually a couple of ladies that came in after kickoff and left early in the 2nd quarter never to return. There were about 10-12 empty seats around me after halftime, and there were maybe 20 seats empty around me by midway through the 4th quarter.
It's obvious that these are company seats that just give tickets out because there is no way that people would pay that much money for those seats and not care enough to stay more than a half. I was surprised that the stadium was mostly full at kickoff, because I felt that many would not come because of their disgust with the recent events, but I will never understand why those that actually showed up would leave so early.

^^^ Good post (Paul LSU). Makes sense and I actually see where you're coming from.
That being said, last night wasn't ULL or LaTech or Tulane. It was a division foe, in a game that would decide both teams' post-season bowl births.
The point at which the announcers made the commentary was when LSU lead by 4. These things might be relevant to, say, a potential recruit.
BTW: I work a 2-week on/2-week off schedule. Depending on how things line up, I might have the chance to attend 5 or 6 games a year...or maybe just 1.

If you're looking for the call out and want to see/hear it for yourself, it starts with 13:45 left in the 4th quarter.
I think most people who left their seats went downstairs to get out of the cold. The seats weren't that empty during OT.

My wife works for a non-profit. She was out of the house until around 2am and I have two young sons that I needed to look after. It certainly wasn't a money issue yesterday, at least for me.

I am not saying you are a bad fan or anything I am just saying people that don't atten the games should not bitch and start threads about people leaving early

LET'S ALL CRY ABOUT IT! i was in the student section and it was as packed as it was when the game started, at least where i was. if they left its their loss in the end.

Look the fact of the matter is that Todd Blackledge scripted out and was waiting to use that commentary based on other games that LSU fans had left early. The game last week had built the anti-Miles issue to a fever pitch and made for dramatic commentary for the media to talk about, and what better way to bring it up than to say, "look at the fans leaving early!"
But what some of you that weren't there don't understand, is that the fans really didn't leave early. They, like me, went down to get out of the cold and came back up halfway in the 4th quarter. I knew it was going to come down to the wire, as did everybody else. We were the smart ones that saved up for the OT period.
Why don't some of you believe this? You're the culprits here wanting to blame the LSU fanbase for the first little thing. Some of you are as bad as the media - lurking in the shadows ready to pounce on the LSU fans. And to be honest, I think a lot of it is jealousy because we were there and you weren't. But that's just my opinion.

Got this from the SAINTS board.
DAMN. I guess the SAINTS have more die hard fans.

Good post and perspective. It is easy to judge when you are sitting at home in a climate controlled environment on your couch although I could never see myself leaving a game that is that close halfway through the 3rd quarter.

You poor idiots with nothing else to bitch about need to get a life. These people leaving probably give millions of dollars between them.I say you should get a fricking job making big scratch to buy your tix ,get adopted by silver spoon,or just stand outside the fence and dream,in silence.
You, sir, are a winner. I mean that. Baton Rouge classism at its best. And if I decide not to spend a huge chunk of my hard-earned money on football team I have no right to complain. I should not think twice when fans fail to support a group of hard-working 18-22 year olds who make NO MONEY for taking all the hits and dealing with all the criticism from idiot fans.
Thanks for showing the light. Now go light your cigar and complain about the lowly proletariat somewhere else. There are plenty of places to look down your nose at the rest of the world. You don't need to do it in Tiger Stadium.

I liken these fat-cat bandwagon fans who unfortunately now take up most of the prime seats--to these candy arse doctors and lawyers around central Louisiana (and elsewhere) who all had Harleys when it was a fad.
They dressed up in their do-rags, leather boots and black t-shirts and had a good time pretending they were "bad asses."
Real bikers just laughed.
Now, they put on their purple and gold and enjoy playing at being football fanatics.
But of course, if the wind-chill is below 72 degrees they can't take it and go home.
Back when most anyone could get (and afford) a ticket, these same people considered and LSU football game a "low-class" thing to do.
Give me the days when Tiger Stadium was a bunch of drunk coonasses and rednecks with an attitude--a place that opposing teams feared.
I know there's probably no way around it, but I hate the fact that all the prime seating in TS is taken up by corporate seating and populated by these fat cat pollyannas.
Once again--other places like Texas and Florida no doubt have a lot of corporate seating. Why don't they empty out like pussies? The Swamp stayed full while UF was hammering College of Charleston.
TAF has raised a lot of money.
They've also made Tiger Stadium a shadow of its former, feared self.
