I watched the SkyCam broadcast and that camera made passes over the crowds and there were plenty of empty seats in the 4th quarter, which surprised me.

I had a couple right next to me leave literally at halftime.. 7-6 and they leave.

Edit: They were sober and not old..
Edit 2: Preaching to me about yelling loudly and how we would stand up the entire game in our section..

Noo. They were saying we would be yelling and standing during the entire game then they left at half.

The yelling and standing was in response to an old man behind us constantly telling people to sit down..

Edit for clarity: There was an older man a few rows behind us constantly telling folks to sit down and grabbing folks out of his way. The guy next said don't worry we will all be standing, then they proceed to leave.

If any left, it wasn't enough to notice. The student section was overflowing and some of them were looking around for seats in other sections.

We were in 423 so they missed the 2 point play right in our face so joke was on them.

I will never understand how you can leave in that situation though.

Had a group of 3-4 guys near us bail right at the start of the 4th. They had been partying hard all day, and were pretty well hammered when they showed up at the start. Kept pounding the Beam and cokes during the game, and had to tap out after 1 of the dudes just passed out

For a certain percentage of our fan base, the game will never trump the party, no matter who the opponent is.

There are always a lot of empty seats at any event. People with tickets have something come up at the last minute. Plus, some people have left their seats to visit, buy concessions or go to the bathroom. Their seats are empty, but they are there.

We actually gained people as the game went on. By OT the entrance tunnel near us was packed with people standing and watching.
