re: Fans don’t understand the portal

These dipshits don’t care. They just selfishly only care that their team wins everything. Oh they spout off about how “it’s ruining the sport” or how “you can’t ever build a roster” but what they are really saying is “my team isn’t as good as they used to be because of this so I’m angry”.
I guarantee you if LSU had won the national championship the past 2 years, these same dipshits bitching about NIL and the portal would be praising it because they would perceive it as to be a benefit to LSU. The see it as a detriment now so they hate it. It’s not about “the sport” because both NIL and the portal have been absolute positives for “the sport”. Far more team disparity. More players getting PT. All are better for the the sport.
Also, for some of the people bitching. It’s purely about jealousy. They can’t stand that an 18 year old fresh into college will make more money just for signing their name than they will make in a lifetime.

It's nothing to understand about the Portal, this shite is not Rocket Science.

Your post is resting on the assumption that players always make the right decision when they transfer.
It also seems to be based on the notion that players weren't able to transfer before the portal was created.

That's fine but there needs to be limits. Running every year to a different school is bullshite. Or having other teams tamper and offer more to get starters to jump is bullshite. That needs to stop.

Without fans there would be no money in college football. I have always been crazy about LSU and college football since the early to mid 60's which was before I hit kindergarten. The bowl games have been ruined for many of the games. The loyalty shown by coaches and players is almost gone. The quality of play for most teams seems to have been compromised since you almost have a new team each year. I really don't like high schoolers making millions without having done much to deserve it. It is pro sports now , full fledged. The passion and pageantry of the college game has been cast aside for big money entertainment. Ho hum, just another pro league. BTW, the iconic gold, white, gold needs to be left alone. The LSU brand means little now. Might as well change our colors as well. I shared a love of LSU football with my grandfather and father. Now I share it with my son and hope to with my grandchildren yet to be born. Alas, the tide has changed and the fun is eroding. Oh well, time to spend Saturdays fishing instead. Back to reality, I will be watching the bowl game with my son while white knuckling my way through the game desperately hoping for an LSU win.

Yours seems to hint that players always make the right decision when choosing a school at 17/18 years old.

I would guess that these decisions, later in a career, are more accurate and potentially fulfilling than when they left high school.

Its al lot about money. Now you have to pay to get them and then pay to keep them.

Don't forget how much it costs to attend games at Tiger Stadium and on the road. I miss the 8-3 McClendon days.

As a fan, I don't like 35% turnover every season. As a fan, one hundred percent I'm paying far less attention to the sport than I did 5-10 years ago. As a fan, that means less eyeballs for advertisers, and ultimately if enough fans feel like I do, a reduction in income.

The transfer portal levels the playing field.
You're right. And yes, you are talking to a group of people who don't give a damn about players. Most have never played a down of college sports. I agree. The portal may not be perfect, but it's better than handcuffing student athletes.

The right decision is personal to the players. It should be their right to make the a good or bad decision.

Generally the adults in the room have a different set of rules. It’s the same reason I can drink a coke or chew gum in front of my students and they can’t.
This reasoning (by an educator) reeks of a backwoods mindset. It's rather scary.

Do u also know, that once they get on campus and in training camp, they all have the same shot at starting?
Super Naive lol

Josh Williams was a walk on, who ended up being a starter, so they all have the same shot at getting their chance.
Exception not rule. The road for a walking, talented or not, is a tough one. I walked on. Took me 3 yrs to break into the lineup. Set a few school records. But, I which there was portal, I would have those 1st two seasons on the field somewhere else.

Nothing wrong with downvotes. Just means that you have enough courage to have you your own mind. Respect

It’s about money in 95% of the cases. Just simply admit that rather than making it sound like the portal is a lifeline for most entrants. That is simply not true. It is what it is, but no need for convoluted justification.,

I'm assuming that LSU is your favorite team. If so, this is because LSU sucks or you're getting older.
A lot of people here are about to realize that they don't actually like college football and are holding on to hope that they can derive some sort of pleasure from "winning". It's hard to come to terms with the fact that you don't like something unless it's going your way. That's okay, it's a normal feeling.
