Merrfield Will start at SS. Crazy prediction, but if he continues to hit it might happen.

Is our staff not “real pitching”? Dude has been raking against some super strong pitchers. If he carries that over to the spring he will start at 2B

Thanks for posting. This team will hit and pitch well. We have some gas-throwers which is great to see.
Hit, run, score & LFG!
PS Don't forget the peanuts.

What I got from the press conference is that he is not going to rush the freshman - he mentioned the SEC had 8 out of 108 freshman as contributors and that number is low because of the transfer portal as well.

Pearson who showed what he can do against SEC pitching last year is going to be fine. He has a leg up on someone like Kling who still has to prove he can do this against SEC elite pitching which I'm confident he will do but you don't have to rush him.

Same thing with Thompson at SS - he is proven and had some really clutch hits last year when he walked off OU in Houston.

Milazzo will likely play a lot at catcher and again you don't have to rush someone like Neal.

I still think Dugas can be a factor as well whether in LF or 2B or even DH

Agree with all this. Only thing is I don't think they will need to rush Kling. He will be ready to be a starter day 1. His athleticism and arm in RF gives him the edge over some of the others I think. He is a true 5 tool guy similar to Crews. He won't be as advanced at the plate as Crews was as a freshman but that is a really high bar to reach. Won't be a situation of Kling having to play as a freshman, will be Kling being to good to keep him off the field and out the lineup.

Agreed. Kling looks like a vet out there in RF. Good approach at the plate as well.

Crews, Morgan, White are obvious starters.

The other 5 positions + DH will be interesting.

You have veterans like Thompson, Pearson, Dugas, Milazzo, Travinski, Jobert, and Beloso.

You also have less proven guys like Merrifield, Guidry, Kling, Nippolt, Ruddell, Paul, Jones, Neal, etc.
.
A lot of options for coach to fill the 6 spots.

It will be, but everyone on the staff is pitching and they are only throwing a few innings at a time, at the most. The weather is still cold so they are still gearing up.

Merrfield hit well last fall too. 450 on base 450 slg. Let’s see what happens when the weather gets warm

I am not down on Pearson, but I am also not in the camp that Pearson is just gonna pick up where he left off at the end of last season.

He didn't have much of a book on him last year. This year teams will know better how to pitch to him. Hopefully he responds, but the sophomore slump is a thing for a reason.

Year 2 often separates the men from the boys.

His approach is too good, he will be fine. He’s never not hit

One thing that pops out in those stats is White having only 1 walk…but he also doesn’t strike out a lot. He is gonna put the ball in play a lot…which will be bad news for opponents.

In real games, he’s never not hit.

He certainly didn't hit this fall.

He has less than a full season of at bats at the college level.

I still want to see more.

Thanks for posting this! I too calculated the cumulative fall stats (mainly because I wanted to get the OPS/SLG numbers for the hitters). We have a few slight discrepancies but pretty much the same. Anyway, here are the hitting stats that I got sorted by OPS. My pitching stats are exactly what you already posted. I'll also list my "all-fall team".

OPS (AVG/OBP/SLG) K%

Jack Merrifield 1.221 (.429/.507/.714) 11%
Tommy White 1.164 (.354/.364/.800) 18%
Dylan Crews 1.092 (.303/.410/.682) 27%
Tre Morgan 1.024 (.302/.421/.603) 17%
Zeb Ruddell 1.021 (.275/.413/.608) 40%
Gavin Dugas .943 (.214/.371/.571) 34%
Paxton Kling .942 (.250/.372/.569) 35%
Brady Neal .920 (.282/.370/.549) 37%
Paul Skenes .914 (.216/.293/.622) 29%
Gavin Guidry .897 (.254/.405/.492) 30%
Hayden Travinski .876 (.233/.411/.465) 23%
Jared Jones .859 (.257/.373/.486) 30%
Cade Beloso .854 (.277/.493/.362) 12%
Mic Paul .780 (.255/.397/.383) 28%
Brayden Jobert .778 (.233/.361/.417) 22%
Ethan Frey .764 (.224/.356/.408) 32%
Ben Nippolt .761 (.233/.395/.367) 20%
Josh Stevenson .645 (.200/.365/.280) 27%
Alex Milazzo .644 (.212/.317/.327) 23%
Josh Pearson .578 (.154/.286/.292) 30%
Jordan Thompson .525 (.191/.269/.255) 35%

All-Fall Team

C - Brady Neal
1B - Tre Morgan

SS - Jack Merrifield
3B - Tommy White
LF - Zeb Ruddell
CF - Dylan Crews
RF - Paxton Kling
DH - Paul Skenes
