If Herm Edwards was in on this argument he would simply say
"You play to win the game" "Hello"
That means until the final bell

GT fans should worry more about the bad fake punt on their part in the first half.

Fuggem, the game is for 60 minutes- if people don't like us playing a full game they should implement a mercy rule or the losing coach send in his second team as a white flag and let the team running away with it send in all theirs.

Just a bunch of crap.
It was not like it was 4 and 1 on the GaTech 10 yard line. It was a fake punt at mid-field and it was easily defensible. GaTech cover team just ran away from the line.
Deep passes were just that...deep passes. Again, not from the GaTech 10 but from mid-field. Not exactly the easiest play for success.

G.T. also got away with 3 or 4 chop blocks with only one called that I remember. I noticed them while watching the replay on ESPN360.

Long Passes late
LSU wasn't burning down the house in the 2nd half, 13 yds passing, 3 pts, 2 fumbles. This was an ACC team after all.
Miles wanted to see what JJ will be able to do in the SEC going into next yr. With 2 dropped picks, and 2 missed TDs of wide open receivers, we still have a bit of work.

GT had 2 very late, cheap shots on Jefferson and had some others that were questionable and not called
Don't forget the two chop blocks against Alexander. The first one they called, but the second one that really hurt him wasn't. I remember Les giving the ref hell for it too.

Anyone who complains about LSU running up the score is just trying to find something to gripe about other than getting his arse beaten!

If they didn't want us to continue playing the game, they should have given up by waving a white flag of surrender.

The fake punt was done with 9 mins and 46 secs left in the game. Georgia Tech is a whiney bunch of pussies. So are any LSU fans that disagree with the fake punt with that much time left in the game. Boxers don't ease up their punches when ahead. They go for the knockout. Tennis players try to win 6-0,6-0. Basketball teams do not quit trying to score with minutes left on the clock.
Also with minutes left in the game, if you don't want LSU to throw. Don't put nine guys in the box. I understand taking a knee in the waning secs of the game but I would rather the team try to score and let the defense stop it in a manly fashion.

Fake Punt
not a big fan of it, but Miles is usually an honorable opponent, so there might be a hidden reason for it that we're not aware of

Look, sidewalk fans will say anything and you'd be lying if you said you wouldn't have people saying the same things if the shoe were on the other foot. Our defensive end, Michael Johnson said that, as a competitor, he'd have likely done the same thing. No one likes watching their team go down in flames and respond with anger out of frustration. All of the late, long passes were not very effective, the fake punt was executed well, but only ran some more time off the clock. No one is saying anything about the goal line stand I found impressive relative to the debacle of the 2nd quarter. I listened to Paul Johnson alot leading up to the bowl game. He was respectful and wary of LSU. I never heard a word to indicate he felt otherwise. Some fans, on the other hand, let their mouths overload their class and humility. I've seen a few comment like that on message boards. Mostly likely from those that never attended the school. I offer my congratulations. A convincing win by a very good team. To hell with Georgia (maybe we can agree on that).

But when other teams do this, they are trying to run up the score

The second half was essentially a "live fire" scrimmage. Does anyone seriously think that LSU, while holding the vaunted GT offense scoreless, couldn't have put up another 21 if they had felt the need? Even the play calling on the goal line stand wasn't what you'd see if it were absolutely essential to punch it in. The long passes and the punter pass were to give the guys some practice.
The dweebs on the GT board whining about LSU keeping its first team in the game in the 4th quarter are full of it. There were a few seniors still playing. Oh, and the 3rd string QB who played the whole game.

What influences Rnadle more, if either: LSU's display of a strong arm QB and vertical passing game, or Bama's displaying a desperate need of a WR not named Julio?

I just think the down field passing late in the game was to give Jefferson more work in a big time atmosphere once the game was in hand. I dont think their was any intent to "rub it in". It was giving a young QB work that he cant get in practice.
