I do believe it is probable that F. King wants to do a reset on his image with students and football fans.
I think it is POSSIBLE he told some fans that he said and did these things in a deliberate, self serving effort to restore his image.
I think it is extremely unlikely he actually said or did anything of the sort.
He is an invertebrate.

I came here with the same thought. What better way to get back in good graces than to say a few things at a tailgate that will inevitably make it to social media or a message board like this one...whether he truly said them or not. We may never know, but it appears his image repair is well underway.

I was in the suite with President King for this past game. He definitely loves the school and you can tell he is very dedicated in trying to make LSU a better academic and athletic institution. He's made a few mistakes but everyone does. Very nice man and he 100% will stand firm on his decision's which I respect.

Everything I have seen from F. King on behalf of LSU has made me question his judgment and capabilities.
There are hard decisions to be made at LSU. The job he occupies requires courage, integrity and leadership abilities which I think he does NOT possess.
He has never held this type of responsibility. It shows.

He's looking to ride Hillary's coat tails to D.C. Pretty widely known. And who needs a nice man in the president's chair. Was Foley nice all through out this mess? Having said that, K.A. should have called & unloaded on the commish, as the commish very much works for the League's presidents. He threw J.A./LSU under the bus publically and deserved a spanking. I just wish he had gone public the way Foley did.

Hmmmm:

Prior to this appointment, Alexander was president of California State University, Long Beach (2005-2013) one of the nation’s largest public universities located in Southern California. During his more than seven-year tenure at California State University, Long Beach, Alexander was twice named the California State University Student Association, or CSSA, “President of the Year,” which represents all 23 California State Universities and its more than 440,000 students.
And before that:

Prior to becoming president of California State University, Long Beach, Alexander was president of Murray State University in Kentucky (2001-2005) and was a faculty member at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where he was the director of the graduate higher education program.
Seems like he's pretty experienced

Seems odd that Jindal fired Lombardi to hire a friend of Clinton's....

It seems odd that Alexander would just walk up to your tailgate and share this information with you.
Alexander wanted this out.

Tell him he and his buddies made a real hash out of the Roy King situation. How hard can it be to let a guy who isn't tenured go without letting it literally become a federal case. As bad as the handling of the Miles situation was, this was downright inept.

Cal State Long BEach ...
Very impressive...
Now I am beginning to think F. KIng IS deliberately trying to rehabilitate himself with the fans.
How do you know him, TB1127?

I don't particularly know him or even like him.
I just don't like people who talk from their a-hole either.
They have 32,000 undergrads. Continue that yapping

F King Alexander's stock has risen a lot with me over the UF situation. I still don't trust Alleva.
