What's the story on this?

My guess is golfer thinks because JBE is in and with budget cuts ... But the flagship agenda still exists and is still the main ( and appropriate ) goal of the University

Simply not true. I believe this was one of the largest freshman classes ever this year, and LSU had the largest graduating class in its history last year. Especially in STEM programs.

JP, this is really solid effort. As an alum, I appreciate it. Those of us who are not big money folks with influence can only hope to attempt to influence the media and drive public perception, which in turn, could help to influence those in power.

If your son or daughter was on the fence in March or April and JBE was threatening Tops and King was saying we were bankrupt , what would you do ?

I bet you haven't been one since before I was born. This whole staff can go including your precious Miles. Don't think people didn't pick up on your whole defending of Miles by throwing that fricking "LSU Fans are spoiled" bull shite in there to create some sly fricking doubt.
You are the worst poster on here.

Still no accomplishments for F. King. This will be easier than we thought.

I hope everyone takes 10 minutes and drafts a letter to the email addresses listed. Our voice, and lack of money, are the only way to get the ball for change rolling.

In my personal opinion, a lot of the strides he's made have been operational. Previously, LSU operated as hundreds of individual silos. This led to insane things like different departments hosting and paying for different e-mail systems. Imagine a Fortune 500 company running 8 unique instances of MS Exchange that were in no way connected. That was happening. All the LSU campuses now use the same management information system. They adopted it recently to streamline and standardize record keeping in purchasing, accounting and human resources. Which has also helped reduce costs.

Purchasing and risk management for all the campuses also is now handled from the flagship, and the state no longer needs to sign off on university contracts, which saves money and time.

The Law school now operates under the umbrella of the flagship instead of as its own separate entity. Which means undergraduate students can earn a joint bachelor’s degree and law degree in six years instead of seven.

King inherited an LSU budget which had been cut 6 consecutive years before he got there. During the special sessions he fought hard to make sure LSU wasn't completely stripped down to the bone.

He also led the charge to have TAF and the Alumni association report up to the LSU Foundation. Before, the organizations effectively competed against each other for the same dollars, using different databases and different information sets. Now, they're more collaborative and coordinated instead of adversarial.

I'm sure there's other stuff, but so far, I've been impressed.

BR-

Regardless of what you perceive as Kings fiscal ingenuity, the way he handled, or allowed, last November to be handled was poor management from a PR perspective.

You don't allow rumors or conjecture to float around like it did, about someone in an upper management position. It's bad business and hurts the brand overall. Understandably LSU is here to educate and provide for students but if you can't see that our brand is perpetuated nationally by LSU football then aren't thinking globally.

You also need to take into account the economics of the state and how big a business LSU football actually is. When LSU is playing well or has support from its fanbase, revenue and business in the state flourish. I think what you are not looking at is how LSU football is a business subsidy of a major university and its most recognizable brand driver nationally. Take that into account, and you may see why people are pissed off at King.

See, the academics in here are having a hard time removing heir heads from fricking's backside. They don't give a damn about the pride in LSU that is a culture rather than a scholastic element. There are some folks in this thread who are not fans in the least. Go read read some comments......closely.

I understand the university is an institution of higher learning, but this school has an element to it that transcends it's research in many areas. It goes from the political peaks to the dirt floors of those who never attended. It's life. It's Louisiana. Why do so many turn to the football program (and to a lesser extent baseball program) when tragedy strikes?

So, frick that academic elitist perspective. LSU will never be Vanderbilt........and most of us don't want it to be.

It is LSU.
